i dont know why they are worried about the so called 300 quid anyway. apart from the fact they wont be getting it, dont they realise by the time the 4th of nov comes round we are due 32 weeks back money from the 2.6% payrise. which is £326.72p. :Very Happy

Don't bank on it. There is nothing agreed yet and as part of the negotiation they may drop the back dating of the rise just to get better terms and conditions. Hope they don't but just don't go spending it yet!
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Problem is Davey, them that will not strike is nothing to do with the £300. There are genuine folk out there that are totally against strike action at any time let alone now and I can only accept their beliefs even though I cannot understand their reasons. There may be really genuine cases of poverty and again I can accept these folks reasoning. What I cant accept are those that are prepared to do nothing with no other reason than leaving it to others to lose money so that they can reap any rewards. These are generally the yes voters who have no intention of striking but want the rewards. They are the lowest of the low. Will there be 50 odd thousand people out on strike on 4th November? Very unlikely.

my family is in poverty- a days sick/off, will send us under. and i'm desperate to keep my head above water. for the sake of my kids- for their christmas. if i was a drunk who smoked then fair enough, but im not.
I voted no. I dont agree with strike action. although am prepared to support the union.
The whole thing is driving me nuts. i hope that cwu and royal mail sort it out. without the need to strike.

At least you get paid for sick days - another thing unions have to be thanked for.

Where is the improper behaviour though? This argument could be used against the xmas bonus whereby workers lose it based on their attendance throughout december.
The money would be being used to induce behaviour but is it improper? This is why the xmas bonus is used because it induces better attendance which is not improper.

That being said, I think it would be improper of RM to do this due to it being legitimite action using all the correct channels. To use money to undermine it is unethical even if it is legal.

if we don't strike we show to the new share holders we are happy with this 3 year dodgy deal. if we strike for a day, we show we are a militant union. precisely what share holders hate if we carry on then they really hate us. they usually have to come to the table, if the strike lasts a while they usually come quicker, if they don't come for ages then we hate them because we cant sustain a strike for ages, but it cant last too short or too long just enough to show the new share holders that we do care about our T&Cs past 3 years and our pensions and all the rest. think of a new school with a new bully and first encounters and all. 1 year of extra T&Cs should be more than £300 I think. if the union wants 10 and the company wants 3 then the middle is worth fighting for in my opinion. the company can afford more than 3 years in my opinion it does have real expansion prospects abroad like DHL and TNT have done from Germany and the Netherlands to expand here. I think the company will achieve this even more so without a striking work force so should expand the 3 year deal. RM has a bright future and the staff need carrying forward with this.

Not sure if you've got the gist of this, it's a one day strike - period. Followed by a second ballot for an OT ban and a dubious boycott of DSA.

Well we could ask the oracle but he seems to be keeping his head down which would suggest there's something in the wind. It's always the same, the union has now gone into it's shell, nothing forthcoming, no updates and this is the Communications Workers Union. There has been no suggestion that there will be any other strike days only a secondary ballot and even that is on shaky ground.
