ROYAL MAIL DISPUTE

Please find attached a copy of the Union’s press release issued today.

“The CWU has today announced that the postal strikes planned for Friday 6th November and Monday 9th November, have been called off.

CWU and Royal Mail have reached an interim agreement that was unanimously agreed by the Unions Executive today.

The interim agreement will provide a period of calm for the CWU and Royal Mail to reach a full and final agreement. The interim agreement guarantees that modernisation will be introduced with agreed job security and improved terms and conditions for postal workers. It also addresses all the issues included in the long running local disputes.

The strike ballot remains in place.

Dave Ward CWU Deputy General Secretary said ' there needs to be exceptional efforts to improve trust and relationships between CWU and Royal Mail. As a result both TUC and ACAS will have a continuing role to keep the discussions and agreement on track.”

Branches are further informed that the planned industrial action for Friday 6th November and Monday 9th November is suspended.

The agreement is embargoed until 12.00 tomorrow 6th November, and further information along with copies of the agreement will be circulated in due course to Branches.

Christmas Post Safe As Strikes Called Off

Christmas post deliveries will not be hit by strike action, in a deal reached between postal workers and Royal Mail

TUC leader Brendan Barber said the agreement halts any industrial action until after the Christmas period.

He said it provided for a "period of calm" in the run-up to and beyond Christmas, free of industrial action, to enable further negotiations to be held to secure a longer term deal.

Now where have I heard those words before? Oh yes - Mark Higson. I don't know what was on offer but it must have been worth it for some.

Deal reached strikes stood down . A framework agreed which resolves some issues, allows for re -engagement at local level on the imposed changes and national talks to continue all overseen by the independent person. This is to be reviewed every two weeks so to ensure that they are keeping to the agreement.

This re-engagment at local level, is this still with the use of pegasus? and 4 mph walking speed! used to breech the nationally agreed 3.30 delivery span?
I know your not at a high enough level to be dealing with this directly dingo, so i don't mean it as an attack on you but this is a stitch up!
