Re: Apathy in the workplace?
But you're not prepared to try to keep us and our families safe by wearing a mask and you're calling people stupid even though they have a better understanding of the science than you do?Go back and read my posts and see how angry I am at royal mail for not doing better to keep us and our families safe.
It's a strange position to try to defend to be honest.

Alert level 5 = extremely strict social distancing.
Do any of us actually believe that will make any difference to the environment we work in?

Mangers & Union Rep not doing enough about distancing. And as for the anti maskers in the office, why are Royal Mail allowing them to enter & work in the office? What will it take? A mass walk out?

Re: Apathy in the workplace?
In my experience it's people who started wearing masks, I.e they have no medical reasons not to, that are now not wearing them. One in our office, never wore one , they've been off with covid for some time now. We don't /can't do social distancing so a simple thing like wearing a mask is the least we ALL should be doing to help look after our workmates.

Social distancing 100% of the time in MCs is physically impossible. It's just down to the layout of offices and the nature of the job

You are that angry at rm yet you wont wear a mask i really don't see your point maybe im doubly stupid now.Sprattacus wrote: ↑04 Jan 2021, 19:47Go back and read my posts and see how angry I am at royal mail for not doing better to keep us and our families safe.aiden01 wrote: ↑04 Jan 2021, 17:27Glad you think i'm stupid and you think its funny this virus thats destroying people's lives and livelehoods says more of a kind of person you are.ile keep wearing my mask and social distance as much as possible trying to keep me safe. was going to say stay safe but honestly don't think you would really care.Sprattacus wrote: ↑04 Jan 2021, 11:21People like you are just too stupid to get itaiden01 wrote: ↑04 Jan 2021, 10:08Seriously your a grown adult ffs just wear your mask and protect your own health. please dont behave like a child an say so an so is not doing things properly then neither am i.Sprattacus wrote: ↑04 Jan 2021, 08:47As far as I know wearing one is a good protection for others. It doesn't make ME safe to wear a mask if OTHERS are not and there's ZERO social distancing rules inside the office. When we were told to wear a mask I put mine on. Already there was murmurs of what can they do if we don't wear one, sack us? It doesn't really work if a few wear a mask but the rest are coughing and talking without one. Come on use your head on this. It should be Royal Mail and the Union enforcing health and safety (it sounds like this is happening in some offices which is good. Didn't happen in mine).aiden01 wrote: ↑03 Jan 2021, 22:13Why have you been told twice to wear one no point compaining on here if your not wearing one.Sprattacus wrote: ↑03 Jan 2021, 17:02Completely with you OP
In my office we had ONE day back in April(ish) when we tried method of social distancing. This meant two metres apart and a limited number on the sorting. That lasted the morning (I think it was a light Tuesday hence the token effort) and was never done again.
We were told masks were mandatory and were handed them. I've maybe been told twice to put mine on (and that was because we had external visitors so wanted to make good impression. Laughable). Probably 80% not wearing in our office. I bought my own mask but seeing the amount of people who refuse to and the management do nothing about it makes you think what's the point. If you want to clear your pigeons or bags then you move between the people in your way as no one is stopping sorting to let you. The only thing more important than our health is clearing the office and at any cost. It's disgusting.
What's the answer? Tell management how to do their job and they single you out as troublemaker? Report the office to health and safety and get singled out as the reason people can't finish their rounds because we actually have to take precautions which slow down productivity?
With the new strand of this virus being more contagious than before everyone should be refusing to work unless all safety measures are being put in place. I know three people just in the last week who have now tested positive and one is seriously ill and in hospital with it. Don't take anymore chances!
(Still can't believe majority of my office was happy for van sharing to come back in).me wearing a mask doesn't protect me if 1. Most others aren't and 2. There's no social distancing measures.
"Surgical masks may protect others by reducing exposure to the saliva and respiratory secretions of the mask wearer."
So one person in an office of 50 wears their mask like a good boy and the other 49 do not and do not social distance. Should that one person be happy about that and shut up?

Re: Apathy in the workplace?
Time for a bit of mask space enforcement me thinks....or there is going to be some more deaths of post people and families.....after over 60's are vaccinated maybe the so called key workers/working class cannon fodder should be next because most people cannot play safe or even be bothered.....good luck everyone lockdown again Christmas #2 is coming to bite us up the bum in a fortnight hold on to your bog roll!

Re: Apathy in the workplace?
most offices would have good results if individuals walked out if people werent making masks, what are RM going to do - sack them because they refuse to work with unmasked colleagues ? i dont think so. In fact most DOMs would make sure that everyone was wearing them pretty fast if people started walking out.

Re: Apathy in the workplace?
Best guess is that the managers would conduct code them as it's illegal for RM to ask the reason behind any exemptionPostie45 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2021, 02:20most offices would have good results if individuals walked out if people werent making masks, what are RM going to do - sack them because they refuse to work with unmasked colleagues ? i dont think so. Re: Apathy in the workplace?
If we all follow the rules we will be as safe as possible, we dont have to agree with them just obey them, this new strain is so infectious i think the whole country should be closed for one month only emergency services.
