So we remove seniority but Fred still gets the duty because Mick the manager thinks women like Sally should be at home looking after the kids and making the dinner?
Seniority isn't perfect but it stops s**t like that happening.

Just to end this debate once and for all, I'll say that anyone with less than 20 years seniority doesn't have an opinion that counts anyway. Just let us old timers sort the problems in offices out, we will make sure it's done fairly don't worry.

I raised this a while ago and as long as you have a FT vacancy according to your TM1 the part timer would get the duty. the section below is from the way forward agreement.VansFortress wrote:If a full time walk becomes available in the office, how does seniority work? If a part time employee has 30 years seniority, do they get preference over a full time with 10 years seniority? Cheers
14.4 Where a full-time post is advertised internally, it will be available to all full-time employees and part-time employees, who have opted for full-time employment, in that resourcing unit. The posts will be filled on the basis of ‘most senior individual’. Where a part-time post is advertised internally, it will be available to all employees as above and filled in the same way.

And there you have it no matter how bad your attendance sick and complaints record if you have worked one day more you get the job.zipmeister wrote:I raised this a while ago and as long as you have a FT vacancy according to your TM1 the part timer would get the duty. the section below is from the way forward agreement.VansFortress wrote:If a full time walk becomes available in the office, how does seniority work? We have a procedure for dealing with unacceptable attendance.cpsteve wrote:And there you have it no matter how bad your attendance sick and complaints record if you have worked one day more you get the job.
We have a procedure for dealing with unacceptable standards.
If people are still in a job their attendance and conduct is considered to be acceptable by the business, some people have medical conditions that affect attendance, some duties attract more complaints than others, managers can manipulate complaints, they can make them dissappear and they can escalate them.
Can you see just some of the flaws in your position?

Like Royal Mail managers would worry about giving it to the best candidate, they would still give it to one of the favourites even if they had a bad attendance sick and complaints record. And there you have it no matter how bad your attendance sick and complaints record if you have worked one day more you get the job.

any full time vacancy comes up they state - must be driver -even if you have been there years longer and do not drive - not fair all they do is start earlier and sort etc - discriminationzipmeister wrote:I raised this a while ago and as long as you have a FT vacancy according to your TM1 the part timer would get the duty. the section below is from the way forward agreement.VansFortress wrote:If a full time walk becomes available in the office, how does seniority work? Given the chance RM would probably insist on all DO staff being a driverqwerty2 wrote:any full time vacancy comes up they state - must be driver -even if you have been there years longer and do not drive - not fair all they do is start earlier and sort etc - discriminationzipmeister wrote:I raised this a while ago and as long as you have a FT vacancy according to your TM1 the part timer would get the duty. the section below is from the way forward agreement.VansFortress wrote:If a full time walk becomes available in the office, how does seniority work?
