If you are getting paid for them NewPostie as you are being paid extra on top of your wages! If you don't want paying for them, don't do them in your own time!
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Why do some offices get 3p per item , while others are getting 6p per item ?

So you get £10 per hour plus 3p+ per item? Apparently not, according to this very thread.eastie wrote:What you on about ?? prepping in own time , you are jokingNewPostieUK wrote:But poll cards aren't optional and have to be prepped in own time. Prepping in own time see quote above.
Bottom line is, nobody has a clue and the whole thing is a disgrace.

According to our Dom today he said to someone to prep all poll cards and he counted them over 1000 and he will, get paid! Yet the guy tomorrow who is only on 20 hour contract gets nothing extra for delivering them! I confronted him and he said only one payment allowed and he asked postie to stay over his time and prep them! This seems all wrong tom me as surely when you deliver them you Should get paidpaulj3001 wrote:No, the payment is for the delivery of the item

In our office the poll cards now tend to come in precounted bundles of say 200 and then we just work off those figures.
Would it not be simpler and fairer for everyone if they just scrapped election payments and increased the delivery supplement instead?

If you're paid an hourly wage,is it legal to tell people they won't be paid, but they can maybe earn that hour rate back if they process enough items at 3p. What if someone doesn't deliver enough of these wretched things to make the same as their contracted hourly rate or worse minimum wage. RM could be paying people under minimum wage.

In order to prep and deliver my poll cards I needed to do approx. 1h 30 "overtime."nickbsmooth wrote: RM could be paying people under minimum wage.
Even if I was paid the minimum of 3p per card I would still have made £45.
Paying people under the minimum wage? I don't think so.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

A newbie on a 25 hour contract would have to work 8 hours 45 minutes for free before he was paid under current minimum wage. So it wouldn't happen.nickbsmooth wrote:If you're paid an hourly wage,is it legal to tell people they won't be paid, but they can maybe earn that hour rate back if they process enough items at 3p.
