Re: Royal Mail offering VR with pay in lieu
I was working on the figure after 41 years old as the 3.75 multipiler. Thats what it looks like in MTSF.. Could do with being clearer.

Re: Royal Mail offering VR with pay in lieu
Yes it could be clearer, but you add the amounts before 41 too, then multiply by 3.75. Easier with the VR mtsf2 Ready Reckoner.raged1999 wrote:I was working on the figure after 41 years old as the 3.75 multipiler. Thats what it looks like in MTSF.. Could do with being clearer.

Re: Royal Mail offering VR with pay in lieu
Everyone whos having problems working out and thinking theyre getting too little is probably not multiplying the result of their weeks to be paid by 3.75 which was missed off the original formula in this thread
Here is the actual calculation
Here is the actual calculation
raged1999 wrote:• 0.5 weeks’ Pay for each full year of service where age during year less than 22
• 1 weeks’ Pay for each full year of service where age during year is 22 or above, but less than 41
• 1.5 weeks’ Pay for each full year of service where age during year is 41+
and multiplied by 3.75.
Up to a maximum of 104 weeks. This agreement stands until at least May, when it is being reviewed.

Don't forget rounded down so if you have 20 years 9 months it is only 20 same for your age.Postie45 wrote:Everyone whos having problems working out and thinking theyre getting too little is probably not multiplying the result of their weeks to be paid by 3.75 which was missed off the original formula in this thread

Re: Royal Mail offering VR with pay in lieu
I can see the VR packages will be reduced as Royal Mail will find it too expensive to cut the workforce say by 10% in 5 years time.

Let's not forget what the point of the post is. RM want to get rid of you ASAP. 13 weeks lieu of notice also. All your shares too. But as many have pointed out Max of 104 weeks VR. Didn't management get maximum of 3 years salary?

So it would be this figure from above plus 13 contract weeks gardening leave money, +/- your annual leave balance, plus your shares?
God that sounds tempting!

Re: Royal Mail offering VR with pay in lieu
While everyone's VR calculations are very interesting nobody has asked the question - why do RM feel the need to offer an enhanced VR package?wacko74 wrote:Are any of these VR's that are being offered actually in delivery?
As every D.O. I'm familiar with is understaffed and running on a skeleton crew with D.O.M's constantly pleading for people to do overtime.
Quite simply, they cannot get enough people to go in those areas where competition has meant a serious decline in traffic.
So then there is a further question - what happens when the enhanced VR package still doesn't tempt enough?
While the experience of some might be of skeleton crews, it would appear that other offices are still massively overstaffed.
Perhaps someone from NW London can confirm it, but I believe the Willesden office is facing a 25 full time headcount reduction.
Assuming 25 f/t staff are to be replaced by 25 p/t staff, it means that office is currently 3-400 hours overstaffed every week.
Apparently another NW London office has 9 VRs on the table with only 4 takers from the top 30 on seniority. 90% have rejected it.
So how is the headcount reduction going to be managed if enhanced VR isn't enough?

Re: Royal Mail offering VR with pay in lieu
Clash the reason it is on offer is not necessary they cannot get anyone to go on VR it is because Royal Mail are under pressure from Ofcom on effiecncy !! Royal Mail had said they would improve effieceny in the financial year of 2014/15 but have not and offering VR to anyone who signs up before the end of the financial year shows signs of desperation.
Now we do face a combined crisis of competition and a regulator who has no support for the USO at all. Ofcom are reviewing London s effierncy and have powers to bring in effiecncy enforcement orders.
Now yes it is true about Wilsden but it has to be remembered that Wilsden has not had a revision for over a decade. There are 120 vacancies in North West London at the moment despite those VRs.
Now the real concern is that all the revisions in North West London was done on a model week which was set before Whistl came into North West London and took approximately 18% of the work we were doing over night. add that to the fact Amazon now use other providers to deliver the bulk of their parcels in London.
We have agreed a preference exercise in London and yes there is still an appetite for VR in London especially in the age bracket of 55 to 64.
We are at a tipping point in this industry the areas where we cross subsidise rural and town areas to keep the USO are losing the mail and at this rate sooner rather than later the USO will be unsustainable. If that happened then you won't be talking about a Monday to Friday service , you would be talking about a 2 day service for 80% of the UK. It's time we all woke up and starting having a go at not the CwU but Ofcom.

One might ask why there are VRs when there are 12o vacancies.

Yep, someone I knew was offered a PT delivery job locally (NW London). He didn't take it as he got a FT job paying almost three times the RM hourly PT rate.clashcityrocker wrote:Because the vacancies are part time.Lounge Lizard wrote: One might ask why there are VRs when there are 12o vacancies.
