Are the packets done as well? My duty is often nearly all thrown in but the packets are never touched. It takes me up to an hour to do the packets, redirections and band up. There are usually packets for duties who have left, often tracked, and they just get left. I've gone for my specials at 10:30 before to find a missorted special. The person had left 90 mins earlier, and no I couldn't take it, no idea where it was and no time anyway.

All PT staff work with a FT on P&L, the FT preps both walks instead of going on IPS. So even if the walks aren't fully prepped when the PT'er comes in there are two of them to finish off the walks.

Ps: You must have a serious amount of packets to take an hour to do them and tie up! It's about half that in my office on the vast majority of walks.

The Tracked is another thing I don't understand, there is no way a single Tracked would EVER get left in our office, not a chance.

So OnAFlyer,You are saying that you can tip & sort 2 or 3 bags of packets,do your redirections/kill offs etc AND tie up in 30 minutes?

Same here! I guess you can put it down to DOM's and their megalomaniac tendancies when running their own personal fiefdoms.

Our DIM was off for a couple of weeks sick? and 1 of the guys did something that we do all the time with our usual DIM's knowledge and consent. Covering DIM saw and hauled him in the office talking about conduct code. It was only after lino said that's the way this office does it that he got let off.

Depending on the workload.... I reckon that's doable.

Edit: Don't the Mail Centre do your deads? Can't remember the last time I had more than 5 yes five!

Yes. There's no way it should be taking an hour.

I put deads straight in the letter bag and only put a red sticker on if they turn up next day( about 10% ).

But all the deads you get would have gone to the mail centre 1st before they got to you!

They are collected from my boxes on my round so they haven't been to the mail centre yet.

Apart from the ones that have come in where customer has already attempted to send them back, what do you do with letters where you know a person has moved away?

I deliver everything unless there is a re-direction and if they complain I tell them to write gone away on them.

Me too. :Applause
And colleagues who routinely 'kill off' items after a redirection has ended have been in trouble when that redirection has covered a temporary absence of maybe three months  apart from which the old resident might have arranged for the new resident to pass on the mail to them.
