Oh forgive me as I was assuming it was a lack of experience which lead to your post.

I am afraid after 14 years employment with Royal mail if you have not wised up and seen the writing on the wall then i very much doubt you ever will.
My friend, you are in fact a lost cause.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

What puzzles me is that if you are stating that 90 minutes is being lost then surely this is noticed by the manager?

Nothing has changed though, jobs are still too big, part timers jobs are not being thrown off, overtime claims are looked at with suspicion and those who claim/cut off become targets for line managers. Often this is being watched while you sort or throw off and any small mistake held against you. Anyone seen to be a problem is also 'observed' on delivery and warned for not carrying their 'dog peg'.

Same with breaks, anyone who dares stop for a break instead of going straight out the door is questioned, maybe in a joking sort of way but it's still a form of intimidation.

Absorption is expected every day, and they can't even be bothered to put it in loops, it's always a long dead walk down one side of a road. If you say you haven't got time you get "I need you to do it" or "there will be consequences".

I am getting pretty tired of the environment in the office and attitude of the management. Not sure how much longer I will put up with it. Anyone else feel the same?

Can relate to all of what you have wrote.

Just shows what's going on last out office all time leave mail toss it off
Dawdle round get back late
Yes we'll done and I'm in nobody's arse
I just like to do what I can do without taking piss
You lot on here remind me of my break time
20 minutes of moaning whining full timers who shouldn't be employed
Why don't they just do us all a favour an get another job if they hate it so much
Ah the sweet sound of naivety. In some ways I envy you for your lack of experience working for Royal Mail

What you fail to realise or perhaps not care about is the fact that we all started out with a similar working attitude. Boy would you have loved the old days when flying around really did mean you could finish by 10am, absorption was not even thought of back then.

However there was a flip side as most of us had some kind of second job as the money was very poor and difficult to actually live on. So were we any better off, no not really.

What we learned (the hard way) was that by coming in early, not taking breaks, using our cars and generally charging around just lead to the addition of more roads being placed on our deliveries followed by even more work in the shape of absorption. This continues to this day. Its simple really, the faster you work the more work RM will load on your back, there is simply no reward.

If your only in this job for the very short term then crack on as why should you care, right ? Ok that’s fine but if you stay a little longer on top of the extra work RM will present you with the wear and tear on your body will be far greater for working at a fast pace rather than a steady one.
Lack of naivety I've been here 14 years
Still pt reason for that is the posties who come in early taking hours out of office
Why when it's not job an knock
The other post was correct ft staff who don't give a damn about anyone but themselves
Never worked for a company with such selfish staff ever
And I agree not asking people to run around etc
Just does me head in when people say can't do this cant do that
Yet work with them an end up sitting in a van 45 mins to an hour a shift

2 x 45 = 90. Your case???

How about the truth
The long serving postmen /women this company
Throw walks in as slow as possible
Walk as slow as possible
And take the piss to be honest
Then the hard workers quicker honest reliable
Staff get grief for doing a good job
Why do you see yourself as good at your job?? Can I have some of your expert tips please?

If being made to do someone else's cut off will take you over your time cut off yourself! :arrrghhh

Why would a dom put hours into an office when he's got loads of people who like to work for free???
