I am afraid LinChong has got it 100% right here

I ve seen fast track promotion many years ago to a guy in our office who was good at playing football and played for a local team, he was a bit of a star. Was invited to play for a RM team which most of the managers attended. Within 1 month a manager and within a year was at the same pay grade as a area Som. Nice enough guy but thick as two short planks. Got made redundant a few years later once his football glory days were behind him.

I really do believe that with delivery work all you get for running around is "more work" nothing else.

Then again, if you sit back and strive for nothing, that's exactly what you'll get, nothing.
Too easy to blame "the system" as a excuse for existing in a menial life of scrimping and drudgery.

Ah you see it comes down to life style. :hmmmm

I am not going to boast but I ve worked for RM for 26 years and have far from a menial life of scrimping and drudgery.

If your looking for a career then walk away from RM as you will find better prospects elsewhere.

You don't get paid more for being more efficient.
You won't get paid more then they give you more work.
Think about people who are not as good as you....they are the ones who get picked on and bullied.

If you don't care then why should others care about moaning at you if you cut the job up?

You imply that destitute people with addictions have got themselves into this position because they haven't tried hard enough. You follow the philosophy of Norman Tebbit and the creed of the 'self-made' man/woman the right wing have been so successful as relabelling 'working class'. You believe anything good that happens to you is solely down to your own effort and your denial of luck means you can never find the happiness that comes from being at peace with yourself because the other side of the coin of your belief is that anything bad that happens to you is your own fault.

When you think about it, the whole concept of the 'self-made' person is ridiculous. To be truly 'self-made' we would all have to start with exactly the same genes and the only people who want us to be robots are the powerful. The Trade Union movement needs to recapture the concept of working class and bring it back to what it really is. Working class people don't manage others or want to manage others. If you are a manager, it doesn't matter how broad your regional accent is, how fanatically you support your football team or how close you shave your head, you are middle class. Get yourself to the Farmer's Market.

All CWU reps should remind their 'meathead' managers they are middle class at least once a day and take the piss accordingly.

The CWU fully supports all of our members from all backgrounds be they graduates, public schoolboys/girls or members of the Royal Family. We applaud those who have taken the moral decision to become working class because it highlights the fact most people in the organisations our members work in would not choose to become managers if they could afford not to.

The CWU will not tolerate members being bullied out of a unit because their presence challenges their managers' view of what it means to be working class.

What a crass simplistic viewpoint; so if, for example, a plumber gets a long run of work and takes on another two plumbers to help him, he instantly joins the mythical Middle Class, in your view?
All CWU reps should remind their 'meathead' managers they are middle class at least once a day and take the piss accordingly.
What, some doh-bait ex-postie who now comes to work as some sort of manager is instantly also reclassified as "Middle Class" too?

Are you some sort of spokesperson for the CWU now? Do they know your simplistic Wolfie Smith-isms are being spouted in "their" name?

I have learnt now that if you skip meal reliefs. Work at a faster than normal pace to get done. All they will do is give you more work. So your working twice as hard for the same money. My new P & L partner and I now just go at steady pace get back for time and they cannot give you anymore work (unless you want OT).

This discussion has moved on on some many levels. But the poster should really not be boasting of how efficient or quickly he can get the work done - we all work at a different pace and as long as the job is done within the time allocated - there should not be a problem.

It might be annoying to colleagues if a postie wants to show off and encourage management to give more work to others just because that postie is faster.

A lot of posties took this job because it was somethin you can do on your own when out delivering but we have mostly been forced to work together in pairs and it is not easy.

Having said the above, I do agree that some posties might look down on those that are hard working, flexible and gets on with it and not moan about hard or easy walks or being asked to do a little bit extra from the norm - the norm could be anything from 75% or even less for some.

Um that was kind of the point, I said I just get on with it, I never boasted about being quick, simply stated it, however because I am, I get grief, thats the problem...

Tman, you have been busted.

Either you are some sort of of authoritarian who takes instruction from Marx, Lenin, Trotsky or some other source you look up to instead of taking instruction from the members, or you are being paid to promote the right wing cult of the 'self-made' person. If the latter is true, I hope the tax payer is not funding you.

Trade Unionists believe all human beings are equally important. There is no room in the Trade Union movement for managers who enjoy receiving money for stitching people up.
