my payslip today shows basic 34+ 5 overtime- delivery supplement of £18.85
is this right?
Your delivery supplement will always show your contracted hours supplement so that tells you nothing.
What you need to look at is the box marked pay rate at the top.
If your 39hrs(34+5) is the same as the pay rate you have earned exactly the same as a full-timer working 39hrs has including the delivery supplement.
is that the ICS supplement ?
never knew what that was
No its in the +5 overtime

:Very Happy Remember the 'good old days' when you you could elect to do someone elses' door to doors? They would pay you. You could almost enjoy doing them because you could take your time in framing them up, and because they were not all tangled up with regular mail, you could just whizz round. I truly think that part of the hatred towards doing them is because they do mess up your normal letters! Woiuldn't pay to do that now though, not for a measly 20 quid!

Not only pay but sickness as well, some conditions that make it impossible to do deliveries are only an inconvenience for indoor workers, take norovirus for instance, impossible to do 4hr 30 hard outdoor work, but not so bad for someone in a mailcentre, back ache again impossible to pull a 16kg lwt or hct uphill or over kerbs, but not such a biggie in a mail centre.

Where is that bloo8y 'inclement weather' allowance?

On a day like today, it would have been much appreciated having been rained on for constantly for 5 hours on a 6 hours delivery day. Body is shot and bladder has gone through the wringer...

Much the same tomorrow, I guess

There is a difference between a postal worker and a postal worker 'postie'

Sigh!!! :evil/mad :evil/mad :evil/mad

In what way?
Mailcentre staff already get 60 minutes.
In every MC up and down the country?.
The staff in our local MC get 80 minutes. That's 100% confirmed as some delivery staff from my office do nights there on OT.

For now, I am just worried about the bad weather and not getting much of a chance to have a good wee...

Who knows what is going to happen? If it gets too tough, I will find something else to do. Perhaps start my business or start buying and selling shares like my friend cloherty :chuckle :chuckle

I am an employee and it is just a job! I am very flexible and adaptable so I am not too worried about RM.

Sounds like they might be operating outside the terms of the Way Forward Agreement then (unless their duty span is between 11 and 13 hours). At our MC, a full-time shift gets the standard 60 minutes - 40 minutes meal relief plus 20 minutes relaxation allowance

The Way Forward does mention that some Mail Centres had a time bonus scheme (which gave a bonus of extra breaks instead of extra pay) which needed to be dealt with but it's not clear how or if that issue was resolved...

Is there really an ''inclement weather allowance''??

I've been doing the job 14 years and I'm convinced the weather has got far worse in the last couple of years or so... in the past I reckon I had a really s****y wet day maybe once a fortnight, the kind of day where you end up soaked to the skin... now it's pretty much guaranteed to happen 2-3 times a week. The cost of making sure you've got clean dry shoes and uniform to wear the next day really mounts up.

If you have been doing the job for 14 years and never had an the inclement weather allowance, then it must have been abolished a very long time ago. However, I do hear about such an allowance from some older customers that used to postie... Some of the customers say some things that will make a newer postie weep - they had it so good.

But Saturdays will become the lightest day of the week , as RM start playing with the figures when they decide Saturday deliveries need to be stopped, to increase shareholder profits, oops sorry I mean to modernise the business, and manage the workforce to cope with falling mail volumes.

These were called RA breaks where the staff were allowed to consolidate some of the time (Relaxation Allowance built into the PVs /workload) that they would normally take ad-hoc during their attendance at one time. I think at RMMP they were typically 20mins.
