At Westminster, several MPs have backed an early day motion calling for a maximum temperature for workplaces.

They say no-one should have to work anywhere that is above 30C (86F) and those doing "strenuous work" should be allowed to down tools once their workplace reaches 27C (81F).

Not so much just one particular "hot day" ... it's exposure to "hot days" on a continuous basis - day after day of the same - and it's bloody hard to sleep as well as the nights aren't much cooler (no air-con at RedBag Towers) ... I'm really starting to feel knackered ...

Lincoln postman dies delivering in hot weather

A postman in Lincoln has passed away this week while delivering post in the city.

The postman is believed to have passed away due to the high temperatures Lincoln has been experiencing over the past week.

Royal Mail spokesman, Nick Martens, said: “Royal Mail confirms that one of our colleagues at the Lincoln Delivery Office died this week while out delivering the mail.

“Our thoughts are very much with the his family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.”

Update: The man has been named locally as Graham Bennett from Saxilby, who worked at the Lincoln depot for 29 years.

Its not frigging rocket science that if you send people out loaded with mail in the hottest part of the day during a level 2/3 heat wave someone WILL die.

Just makes me mad as hell.

Royal mail don't employ rocket scientists just know it all graduates straight out of university.

Two weeks of hot weather and still no wtl or "huddles" to discuss the excessive heat.

That's what I call a caring company

Hang on dude, there are just as many managers that have progressed from being Posties to becoming managers. If you have got a chip on your shoulder about graduates who have committed to improving themselves, and maybe have developed an inferiority complex, keep it to yourself as it is not an attractive quality
