Re: Suspended for finishing early!
Finishing early on a monday and tues is the norm (for most duties) in my office. The manager goes round with the overtime file the rest of week the and says to the people who have claimed 'did you finish early on tues, I'll scratch this off then', and the overtime they claimed is not paid.
If the management keep going on about flexing, swings and roundabouts etc, how can you get sacked for finishing early? Surely thats the whole point?

Sometimes this kind of thing involves lapsing.NewPostieUK wrote:If the management keep going on about flexing, swings and roundabouts etc, how can you get sacked for finishing early? Surely thats the whole point?
Management think if they ask someone to lapse and they refuse then finish early that can be called wilful delay or dishonesty.
Sometimes it involves booking overtime.
If you are in on your day off and book the full 8 hrs but only work 6 hrs, unless you have prior authorisation(preferably in writing) you are asking for trouble.
Sometimes it just involves managers making s**t up.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I see. Another Cockamamie Management Strategy.
Here's another: Part timer is asked to work his day off, kindly agrees. He works his full 6 hours, but as he finished an hour early the tuesday before, he only gets paid for five.

They are not allowed to bank hours. Get his union rep on the case. Do not let these tossers get away with it.

Re: Suspended for finishing early!
It's quite simple! 2 postman have been suspended for finishing early! The mangers followed them and took pictures of the van outside there house. We work in a city centre office where most places are closed on a Saturday but on there round they could box all the firms. So when it came to Mondays delivery it was very light, traffic figures where down and Households had arrived late and where not available for delivery. They are still waiting on answers to there interviews.

Re: Suspended for finishing early!
The simple fact is they were parked at home when, if they had finished early, they should have returned to the office and let the manager decide what to do - go home early or do some more work. TBH if they were looking out for them I suspect they'd done it before and the managers had been "tipped" off by another member of staff who wasn't getting done early.

Re: Suspended for finishing early!
No job and knock for some time particularly after a revision and the meal relief is not to be taken in full at the end of a duty under BT2010 - it's as well to face facts, they were caught out and had to be brought to book probably as a deterrent to others as an example of what NOT working the hours paid can bring. I would imagine that they'll be having a slapped wrist and that will be the end of it but lesson has been shown to all.motch wrote:could say you was taking meal relief (40 minutes of it) + had the sh***s perhaps big time ?
