They are using tools that are showing them that the indoor work is falling,(delivery offices& IWT) hence the drive to P/T jobs so making a SWW will be easy for Royal Mail to create.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Surely for every 39 FT posties at an office, one extra FT position should be created when a depot goes from 40 to 39 hour weeks? I would have thought that would be at least 3 jobs at an average size depot.
Then think about all those hours that are saved on a weekly basis by people starting early; not taking paid meal relief; carrying pouches instead of using LWTs and HCTs; filtering mail on the move instead of immediately after posting mail through a letterbox; not claiming o/t etc. Posties are their own worst enemy at times, they are costing their own depot jobs and saving the management >£100K at many depots.

Fair enough if that is a true reflection, but what about when you receive sequenced trays that are so rammed full of letters, you can barely pull the first few out? We had multiple trays per walk yesterday for example that had >300 letters per tray.pop it in pete wrote:They are using tools that are showing them that the indoor work is falling,(delivery offices& IWT) hence the drive to P/T jobs so making a SWW will be easy for Royal Mail to create.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Surely for every 39 FT posties at an office, one extra FT position should be created when a depot goes from 40 to 39 hour weeks? Not to mention the WCM shared slot drive, making every walk have 4 rows, but the number of calls could be anyway between 400 and 700. Prepping properly on shared slots takes extra time.
And then there is the exponential growth in packets we have had in the last 12 months or so, >2 full packet bags per day is commonplace for HCT walks here (upto 7 at Xmas), with attendence call rates well beyond the 3% rate upon which walks are often being based.
With extra packets, the volume capacity of HCTs are qucikly used up, which means spending time of delivery sorting out 4+ drop bags most days.
Our walks are so busy that we know we will go over before arriving at work, so consequently we are not implementing "leaving things with neighbours" in the true spirit of the service.
We are at a point now in my section where so many OPGs are being given permission to avoid the typical 60 minutes general indoors work (manual letter/ packet sorting; portering), that we are struggling to get everything through in time and we sometimes do fail.
Right through the system, there is figure manipulation, all in the name of everyone in the manager tiers getting their performance bonus. They do not want to know what is happening in planet reality, the DOM just wants to report to their boss that savings are being made.

I agree Didn't say I agreed with IWT just that they are using those type of tools to manipulate the fact to they way.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Right through the system, there is figure manipulation, all in the name of everyone in the manager tiers getting their performance bonus.
