Just tell your manager that you can't go over your time since you have other commitments. The more overtime or work you do the more you get walked over by management. At the end of the day it's annoying being stuck in these temporary contracts however you knew the situation when you applied for the job and jobs are hard to go by these days. The best thing to do is not to worry as you don't know what the future holds, but make sure you do your contract hours and only do OT on your own terms not theirs.

Thanks for the replies.
Nope no meal relief, nobody said a word about it to me!? I like how they keep that quiet!

Well time will tell, I'm not going to bother with these "hour" bags no more.
I find it crazy how most contracts don't / wont be carrying on. It's tight in the office as it is! :Applause

What makes the situation even more messed up, is that many Union reps don't give a f*ck about anything, while they are actually there to stand up for you.

They pretend to help you and show attention, but in reality they do jack sh!t. I mean, HOW ON EARTH does the Union accept walks which take 5 hours to deliver?

Especially, when the recent revisions were done, you'd hope that things would get better, but they got worse. The whole point of a Revision is to balance out the walks, right? Before you can do that, you need to know EXACTLY how long it takes to complete a certain walk, that would mean testing a few posties on that walk, then making sure that there won't be any dead-walking, then number the frame correctly and other important things.

The point that I'm trying to make, is that it requires A LOT of research and testing to do this properly, but there's no one who really cares to get this done right. Managers clearly know that walks are f*cked up BIG TIME, they don't have enough people, but they carry out with their silly "acting" as if nothing's wrong and keep bullying people into overtime by threatening them AND often don't even pay the overtime hours.

Surely enough, there are worse jobs out there than this, where people get paid less and are treated literally like slaves, but I would NEVER imagine that this would be situation with ROYAL MAIL - one of the biggest/oldest companies in UK, thousands of people working across the country and yet no one knows what actually happens "within" the company until you join.

I'm lost for words...
