Some members being disciplined for not competing walks,(WHY ARE THEY NOT COMPETING) Answer some walks are way to big! yet the computer says they are ok.

Why are new revision walks never walk tested ?

A planner should be made to test a percentage of walks, and any walks that are failing to find out the reason, but then if the Programe they were using was accurate in the first place their would be no need.

Planners are costing the Company a lot of money, they may be cutting fixed hours ,great but increasing overtime ,and increasing the amount of live mail and packets that does not get delivered regulary as their is no one to deliver it.

3rd rate service RM now offers the Public as a result of revision!
when our revision was brought in we were told the walks are designed to fail on all but the easiest days and that we'd flex upwards on the harder days.it seems work in our office, part timers coming in at the same time as full timers, no using trolleys, no booking extended lest in causes dom displeaure. i could go on

Dingo, you appeared to have glossed over the fact that many div reps were apparently really eager to 'get on' with wcm (i.e. full union participation, against the wishes of members, and current guidance from HQ)

In case no one believes me, ask any of the young members in the industrial roundtable talks at nyee with D. Ward

I have not glossed over the world class mails debate and there were mixed views , some believed that prior to the policy they had control over the sites and when the union took the decision to not co-operate with the new sites and try and frustrate and stop progress in the phase 1 sites.

However it was pointed out that the policy is frustrating Royal Mail and in particular Mark Higson as you cannot be totally successful on world class mails unless you have the buy in from the workforce.

In my opinion the policy must remain until we get an agreement on world class mails.

Seems they're on a hiding to nothing then Dingo! I'm not trying to be Negative, but if Mark Higson is relying on having the workforce onside he's got a long uphill struggle!

As we've been saying for a long time, it really needs RM to start building some TRUST and goodwill with the workforce. They've been relying on our goodwill, and commitment, to our regular customers for the last couple of years. It worked to start with as a lot of the "Old Style" Posties had been doing a worthwhile job, that they really enjoyed, for many years. However I now feel even the "Easy Going" Old Posties are now saying enough is enough, it's too much! :no no

Time to start Building Bridges RM...Not trying to Burn them Down. :hmmmm

Trust Dorset...what's that? :cuppa

If your people return mail following completion of Delivery(cut offs) you must have a 121 conversation to understand why this has happened and if no acceptable reason is given the Delivery Postperson should be made to complete the walk and counselled about the performance issues.

Does anyone really understand exactly what WCM is? I've read the blurb and spoken to people about it but nobody seems to know precisely what it is. You would have thought that with modernisation, new delivery methods, machinery, Georoute, IWT and on and on we were already a model for WCM, so what more is required? Does anyone know?

WCM is a comprehensive system of continuous improvement. It works by giving each individual the freedom as well as the responsibility to improve the way we do things, from small, practical efficiencies to large overhauls of major processes.
It sounds very sensible until you look at the costs and the fact that these WCM teams will,as sure as night follows day attract the wrong kind of people more interested in avoiding real work at all costs than finding genuine opportunities for improvement.
Then there is the obvious conflict of interests when "improvements" or let's call them by their real name...efficiency savings may cost jobs.
Not really the position a Union official should be placed in really.
What it really is dv..is the Emperors New Clothes..the latest fad...time&motion for the 21st century.

Me Me - I'm definitely the wrong kind of people :chuckle

I certainly understood the last description and it suits WCM so well. I remember something else donkeys years ago, I don't remember what it was called, but basically it meant any old crap put forward became the norm under the umberella of "WCM" or whatever the previous equivalent was called.

WCM is to take staff off their duties to undertake tasks such as - drawing pictures, putting together lego, cleaning down ips fittings and organising frames to look more professional.... oh and also sweep the yard..... with about 5 or 6 managers in tow :cuppa
