Recorded isn't a timed product and I guess you'd only get compo if it was seriously late..... RM doesn't treat them any differently from an operational POVmailmonkey wrote:people are using the recorded and specials to get birthday presents, packets, any items they want to actualy get to the destination on time.IMO

We both know this, but the customers don't.
They think recorded is a quality product.
I personally wouldn't send ANYTHING of value by recorded.

There are a few topics that bring this up if you search "high value" in the "blue shirts section," including...maninred wrote:Maximum of 3 “high value” and 8 in total (for a walker) ??? Where does that come from ???IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Don't forget that these boards will be a mix of walking delivery posties and driver deliovery posties. The former do indeed normally have a maximum of 8 specials per day (but only 3 "high value"... not that I have any idea how to identify these), while I believe drivers can have unlimited specials.Danelectro wrote:Well if it was a walk you were on then its a max of 8 special deliveries assigned to a duty for security reasons?pokos27 wrote:I think it depends on the area in which you work, when i did a town delivery i would often get 15 to 20 specials and recordeds.

of which no more than 3 may be higher value SD items, a maximum of 48 SD individual
items per walk each week of which no more than 18 may be higher value SD items. Walks
exceeding this standard number of items per week must to be Risk Assessed to determine
the appropriate method of delivery and whether it needs to be motorised. Ideally collection
and deliveries in town centre areas should be motorised."

The bold bit, if correct, makes this rule more vague. Would the risk assessment be held with the section manager, or at the cage as well (so cage staff know what has been cleared by risk assessment for a specific walk)?

Re: Increasing amount of recordeds/SDs?
I've worked in the locker for a number of years now and I would suggest that the SD figure has remained fairly constant throughout the last 2/3 years, I can't really comment on Recordeds, though scouring the shelves for the odd packet would suggest there is an increase.
Tracked items however have gone through the roof, we are averaging about 200 a day over the week. One day last christmas we had 800 tracked on a single day....................fortunately we had gone on to the revision a few weeks before and had an influx of PDAs. Prior to that we were managing with 7 to cover the whole shebang..................and that wasn't easy.
The original service was for BT and we used to get about 7 or so every couple of days which we had to account for by tracking number manually...........a bit like the old days of SD/Regis. As they increased that was a non starter because they were taking longer to deal with than the rest of the locker work combined.

Also people at home got more time to play games or DVDs compared to hard working people.Lincox wrote:It does L8. Your customers are spending taxpayers money and are at home all day on their government sponsered computers whereas the other round are all out at work trying to earn a crust.

Only four today, and 3 p739's in total, which meant finishing 25 minutes earlier than yesterday. Why don't Rm take these things into account? Or do they in the some offices? No chance of claiming OT due to these factors in our place
