I do a delivery with around 720 calls and used to get around £40 per week for 3 lots. Now I'm delivering 5-6 lots most weeks for £20 and still having to prep in my own time.....as per usual all complaints fall on deaf ears....cut off and I get threatened with the conduct code and my union rep is f****n useless! On top of this we have implemented the buddy system, a delivery method which is slower than a walk with a pouch. With this delivery method came a revision where we LOST hours and with the extra time it takes to drag a trolley round and deliver parcels we're well and truly stuffed! It's at the point now where the trolleys don't touch the floor they stay in the van and if you finish on time on a light day you've done really well.....most days are an hour over the top....minimum! 2010 and beyond....to where the land of the f****n fairies!
Mr Postman please, no need for profanities, you are talking about the deal of the century, which now, according to the CWU they were duped over the trust and new understanding and full inclusion in the business plan...................now someone was living in the land of nod right enough and they've gone mighty quiet as usual when the sh*t hits the fan.

Amazing, never learn, never... You are meant to get "x" minutes to prep them, don't have figures to hand, they are on this forum somewhere. As for delivery, I recall some rubbish about doing 20% meant a very low % of extra DPs on any given day and (no surprise here) mail volumes have fallen so there is enough time to complete them!

Make sure you prep them in work time not yours, if the manager doesn't like it, tough, as long as you're working to standard then let him try the conduct code and then go above your useless rep and get someone decent in!

i used to get three 2d2 averaging £25 a week , now a tenner , so around £400 down , this week i have six d2d .....for a tenner , no idea if the d2d has increased or not from last year as some weeks 1 or 3 sets , plenty of 5's and for the first time a 6. However indoor revision has hi-lited that d2d above 3 sets throws the IWT out the window as 3 or more trays and extra indoor work leaves a shortfall in prep time, personally loving it as i show manager bench and say 'does that look like 1hrs work and i've got to prep 2d2 on top of it ?' He now gets opg staff to prep walks that traffic figures show need extra time, one lad was prepping d2d on 4 walks this week. Challenge the manager Wed, Thur,Fri
on the traffic figures and watch them twitch.

Well if you listen to the bullsh*t spread on here by some, "they were going to do away with D2D", "they were going to lump them in one sleeve" - yet it's amazing how the dead in the water service has suddenly revived itself and yet we are still at the stage where the business is worthless, the sleeves haven't appeared ............not that it was a possibility in the first place because there is such a diverse spread even within a postcoded area.

The amount of DTD contracts in my D.O are not consistent. That implies there is still some way to go before RML has a sustained bigger share of the market for leaflets.

Our district and county councils have decided to stop producing their quartley publications which they used RML to deliver.

Therefore thats a loss of revenue and work for RML.

The main reason D2D payments were kept as a supplement and not incorporated into basic pay was it can be taken away easier. End of 2011 or begining of 2012 it will go. Saves them asking us to take 10% paycut. Because apparentley the mail is down, even though your bag has got heavier because of parcrels that must make less money than letters ????? Shares are worth nowt we are told, although they will end up giving us all 2 to 5 hundred and expect us to be gratefull. So much for the could be worth 5 grand. Give 110% effort every day and in return we will get phantom money to pay for the non phantom rises in fuel, tax, insurance, food,etc...............lucky to have a job etc etc.......... Extreme case of put up or shut up. Put up = Put up for sale, Shut up = going to be sold anyway and anyone who wants to lose a few more quid can join the bandwagon in trying to stop this once great british company joining many other relics. It is time for them to stop messing with words and make the company modernise at pace. Reward staff now for the efforts that they have made for trying to achieve unrealistic proposals. Make a new deal with staff and cwu which is clear and precise and has no silly statements that can cause argument and hinder the speed of modernisation. I for one and I am sure many other posties will give 110% until the end. Now is the time for top management and the cwu to sort themselves out and get a clear deal we can move forward with. :pray I believe this will fall on deaf ears and i will see you all in the job centre...............the one next to the post office although the job centre queue is slightly smaller than theirs.

Ok for the record a few facts : the supplement is not going to go when the agreement ends. No one in the CWU at national level has said that. Remember the agreement states it is a permanent supplement to basic pay. Now permanent means it will last longer than 2013. Now the only reason is was not pensionable is the fact the Royal Mail are concerned it would increase their pension defecit payments. Now having a permanent addition to basic pay is nothing new to those who work in Royal Mail prior to 2000 when the Way Forward came in as we had UPAP for years which was called unconsolidated permanent addition to basic pay. Now I joined in 1985 and I had that along with a RRIS payment for over 15 years before the Way forward agreement moved it into pensionable pay.

Now a few observations , if was not the union who proposed the door to door being included in workload ,it was Royal Mail insisting that it had to be done in order for them to try to win a bigger chunk of money. Royal Mail did started from the basis that why should they pay extra for people delivering within the hours they already pay people for. Remember also they had been trying to get door to door into workload and remove the unit payment for years. Under the safeguarding our future pay deal they wanted to run trials on this , under the cuts they announced which led to the Pay and Mod dispute they also annouced cutting door to door payments. Now the union managed to get a 52 week payment paid when your on leave and sick leave and increases in line with pay rises. Remember there had been no door to door increases since the national door to door agreement in the mid 90s.

Now another myth is that mail centres colleague get door to door supplement. They do not only those tagged to delivery offices recieve the supplement. Now it is true some people have lost out depending how many they delivered and if they were less than full time. However the question is wether you believe that Royal Mail was going to continue to supply the door to door product in the old style way where quality was hit and miss and they could not grow the market.

Now in terms of those who say well we lost shift payment so we only got £8 for door to door. Well I have to say that during the dispute of 2007 pay and mod Royal Mail were removing early starts and the only payment indivduals would have recieved wuld have been MTSF which would have only given you dpending on how long you had been in receipt of the alowance a maximum of 3 years pay protection. Thanks to the unofficail disputes in Liverpool and London the union managed to get a statement of grandfather rights which would last until there was a pay simplifaction deal. The union did not hide the fact that there was going to be a pay simplifaction deal it was in the agreement .

Now bearing in mind the fact the fact that the shift payments were for starting at 0500 0r before 5;30 how many offices under walk sequencing are starting at that time. Equaly how many new starters have your office had since 2007 who would not have recieved the early start allowance. So the union thought if we had to do a deal on door to door that it had to do a deal with both sets of money.

My earnings are up!

Asa 25hr floating part timeer I always used to get chucked on FT rounds as is usual in RM. I never delivered or prepped door to doors, as the fulltimers I covered used to like doing them, well, maybe not like but you know what i mean....I was happy enough, I hated prepping and dlivering them, it suited us.

Now, I'm getting chucked on FT rounds and doing 6 items most days. I get 12 quid a week before tax for that.

my earnings are up, BUT THE AMOUNT THEY'VE INCREASED ISN'T WORTH THE EXTRA WORK INVOLVED.

My earnings have increased, but it's a shite deal, i don't want 8 quid for all that rubbish.

Dingo, we posties can not trust the CWU. Where is are share money? We made the changes and it was a selling point in the agreement for us to vote yes.

Is that the same agreement that Royal Mail and the CON/DEMS are rewriting now?
