What shows it ?
What is the nationally agreed prep rate?
How do you verify traffic figures?(Ours are consistently 30% out)

1) One can see with ones own eyes how much time sequenced mail saves on prep, sod fancy formulas! When the planners come along and say it saves X amount of time on walk sorted mail prep then you can accept or reject the claim using what your own eyes and the clock tell you about time saving.
2) 25 letters in 1 min as per individual perormance standards is still the only agreed figure AFAIK
3) Unless manual count is done of every single mail item day after day then you cant. What you do is work out by counting mail what the actual average container fill is and compare against the MC figure for ACF. Then count the boxes coming in and mutiply by the ACF figure which is almost certain to be higher than what RML would have us belive. In my branch area we are not accepting the RML MC ACF figure.

Yep , agree with 1 ,not quite the all singing and dancing reduction RM were hoping for.Big Daz wrote:It shows the exact impact on prep times.
2 is as I understood ,thanks for confirmation
3 again chimes with our experience ,as I said MC consistently understates the traffic by an average of 30%.
Given that our offices are not probably unique and that traffic figures are most likely unreliable across the network, it looks like there might be a few versions of the "exact impact on prep times" wouldn't you say

Re: Shorter Working Week 39 hours
Yes, especially when individual abilties of sorting speed come into play. Some willse greater reduction in prep time than others simply due to their natural abilitly to sort unsequenced mail. With sequenced mail abilty almost goes out of the window, I predict less variance between individuals. As a individual I can certainly speed up my prep rate with sequenced mail and that is based on actually sorting sequenced mail for 7 days aprox over a 2 week period. The interesting bit will be when managers try and claim that the time saving cancels out the increased time needed for HCT.
