Who told you that!
Planners and the CWU rep. 5.5hrs delivery + break + 30 mins to check van and travel to the walks still leave 3hrs+ indoor time. Tbh providing the walk spans were accurate then I can't see a reason why 5.15 in a 10 hr day isn't do-able - we have turned it down though because nobody wants to be walking that long when it's pissing it down or boiling hot.

And two 5.15 walks when you get hit with council mags, bills and hundreds of light bulbs doesn't bear thinking about. :speak to the hand

Has your office got WS machines yet? If not wait for the cuts to start once you do, the hours they claim it saves means the times given for indoor work are cut way down. All our temp FT staff have already been dropped to 25hrs a week with 9am starts.
I must be missing things when these posts come up.
You've got part timers haven't you, who's prepping their walks.
I think you're being had over.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The WSM operators prep walks and sort flats on their 2hr stints off the machines, and some days almost all the sequencing for the office is already in the frames when we get in. We are having trouble with the MC sending mail up late to be sequenced, and last week we didn't collapse at all because of that.

However we can't argue we have plenty of indoor work when we haven't, walks being prepped and mail sorted for us = longer time outside and there's no getting away from it.

We don't get had over, our walks are pretty easy tbh as the area we deliver to is all crappy estates that don't get a lot of mail or packets. The new proposed 4.15 walks are easily doable in that time with a van, we just didn't fancy 5hrs+ out on the walks.

Ok,we at my place and many others do not have the WSM's in the building so that would sort that out.
But the operators can only prep so much to be fair anyway especially now sumer is finished.
