That was a reply to Leftys post who was complaining about getting less delivery supplement as he was doing the same delivery as a FT
I was simply pointing out the flaw in his argument in my view,I think me and you probably have a similiar view on the delivery supplement if I remember your previous posts correctly.[/quote]

Sorry yes I misread the meaning of your post,,,

I think that all part-timers need to seek legal advice regards the D2D payments. The part-timers are still doing the same as full-timers regard outdoor work, its only different with indoor work. It also think no part-time should touch any mail if not all put in frames. Part-timers should only come in early to to 20% or 18% if their d2ds.

On what basis - that the delivery supplement is pro rata. Nice idea but -Flawed.

The delivery Supplement does not pay you for any of the following:

1. D2D Prep.
2. Delivery of D2D.
3. IPS Work or similar
4. Prepping a delivery

It is a payment for working in the delivery function and is (incorrectly IMHO) based on contracted hours (should be on worked hours up to 40).

I also don't think that any claim of lack of fairness would be held up by a tribunal/court either as whether on a Full Time or Part Time Contract the hourly rate of the supplement is the same.

If the supplement was built into basic pay, it would equate to 51.5pence extra per hour for employees. How does that put people on different pay rates? The reason it isn't in basic pay is down to the pension issue.

Also, the argument for the supplement being based on contracted hours, is that it is down to individuals choice as to whether they work over their hours. 30 hour part timers doing full time rurals, it is your choice to do this. You took a job with 30 hours are accepting poorer terms and conditions by doing 40 hours. If none of you did it, they would have to create legitimate 40 hour contracts for people to pick.

Will the so called supplement be added to the basic pay when it comes to pay rise time? I don't think so - pay rise on basic salary only with the supplement staying as it is

Spot on Page 60:

The supplement will increase in value as agreed in basic pay rises.

The people who do overtime are trying to live, not prove a point to a stubbon RM, banner. The point you make could also be directed to full time employees who work their day off as well I take it? :hmmmm

If none of them did that Royal Mail would have to increase part timers hours as well. What would happen in reality is that the Full Time staff would just take the docket if P/T's took your advice.

Part Time employees are not unique to the bullying and harassment that goes on, full timers get it as well, but with less hours to complete a delivery than their full time counterparts, they are probably exposed to it more.

This is about fairness.
You took a job with 30 hours are accepting poorer terms and conditions by doing 40 hours. If none of you did it, they would have to create legitimate 40 hour contracts for people to pick
Most P/T's were dangled extra hours and the illusive promise that if they never cut off and conformed and/or were good boys and girls they'll be made full time eventually. Not a very fair point to make in the cold light of day. Still you are correct to a degree, the only difference is that a full timers conditions INCREASE if they do overtime (10 Hrs) whereas a part timers conditions deteriorate. Not the best example to paint fairness in the workplace is it.

You are up for a bit of fairness banner? Or is it that you want all the cake for yourself?

Pat, it is pretty simple really, not about being cold hearted.
A contract is their to protect both employer and employee. Plenty of people only want to do their contracted hours. Anyone who steps outside of this relationship by working over their hours, cannot moan or groan about the conditions that exist outside the contract. Also, people who regularly step outside of their contracted hours are allowing RM to refrain from creating new contracted hours for the most senior part timers. How cold hearted and selfish is that?

Fair points banner, there is of course intimidation to complete and work tools in place to make sure you do but I do see where you are coming from. Working your days off is a big nono from me and suchlike I never get asked.

My D.O would fall apart without day off working, although it wouldnt mean more FT as our problem is sick leave.

When sick leave goes down so does day off working then some members will moan that thay havent been asked to work their day off for a whilst not realising that sick leave levels are the trigger.

That pat, is a very good question. I well remember some years ago when the union had some clout, calling an overtime ban - well some couldn't wait to get their nose in the trough and so you are right, you refuse it and lo and behold someone else will be only too glad to take it.
