It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Do u work for nothing???
At every office you have the early gang that cut the job up for the rest of us. I am thrown off and bundled up and ready to go out the same time as these people that get in over an hour early, we have to wait for missorts so they can't get out any quicker so whats the point? you wouldnt work for free in tescos or mcdonalds would you. People dont finish earlier through getting in earlier that is a cop out excuse, if you start on time you can still get out on time, most days i still have time to have a small break and grab a bite to eat and if it is a heavy day and you cant get thrown off then that's the managers problem to deal with not yours. Seriously I think people that get in aren't the full ticket, when you try to explain it to them it's like talking to a brick wall, they just can't grasp it.
1 think is for sure though, these people are the 1st to complain, we have 1 at our office complaining about the new saturday agreement will mean he cant go to football, but when we had snow and was told we didnt have to go out he bundled up his walk and took it out agaisnt managers instructions. And guess what, he is part of the early gang, i like to point out that he is partly to blame for the fact he wont be going football on saturdays in the future.

agree with coxie, whatis the point of starting early because you dont finish any earlier .final missorts arrive at about 9.15amby this time most people are tied off and ready to go.maybe if we had a system where no one was allowed to leave the office until every walk was tied off and ready to go it would stop the flappers

Re: Do u work for nothing???
in our office nobodys allowed out before 10 so all the flappers who come in early are left standing about panicking about what time they will finish, this is the way it should be in every office.
we had a guy who used to come in early 1and a half hours before his time every day when you count that out over a year its a horrendous amount of unpaid work he's giving them.

This is what the early starters don't understand.Stormproof wrote:Managers don't see people coming in early they just see them finishing early!
Managers are not going to turn down two and a half hours of free work a week are they, but when push comes to shove, they'll make them work to their finish time.
As Mailman 71 says, "when you count that out over a year its a horrendous amount of unpaid work he's giving them." Even 2 hours a week works out at approx 100 hours a year. Anyone like to hand back their 2 weeks summer holiday! it's the same thing.

Quite agree with that quote.
Dickheads coming in early making the job look easy. and when the floater is on that duty managers say " why are you booking overtime on this walk Joe, Likkle Tommy finishes it early everyday" not realising Likkle Tommy the sucker is in a 45 minutes before his time. and the guy that sits at home with his feet up. times will catch up on you sonny boy. you will be on here soon asking why you have been sacked...

Re: Do u work for nothing???
Well Said Coxie. I Was throwing my walk off the other day and next to me was one of the early Numpties that was bagged up for 9 25 am and i still had a box and all my flats to throw off. I had my break as well the manager came over to the Numptie and Said can you assist throwing off walk 27, the Numptie said "that's not fair I come in early" Manager said "that's not my problem, you don't leave the office till 10 10am" he then stopped the Reggies from being given out till 10.10. the Numptie was like a baby throwing toys out of the pram. I Just loved it, he came to me with tears in his eyes. I said you have yourself to blame....coxie wrote:At every office you have the early gang that cut the job up for the rest of us. Those people who come in early and don't do the job properly are often the same sort of people who can't be bothered to spell words fully.gone wrote:R u one of these people, (use the term people loosely there), who come in way before their shift time so u can get ahead on ur letters n households n stuff??? Thats my job - but he is right Text Talk is not understood by all and that's why we ask people not to use it.Lounge Lizard wrote:I've been many places over the last ten yearsgone wrote:wot age r u like lizard... After all if ageism is wrong then using text talk, which is primarily used by younger people, is also wrong. Nes Pa.

Then You shouldn't be using French phrases TBT.
Besides it should be N'est pas (innit?).
