Cycle to Work?
I had a feeling this might have been the case. It looks like i might have to pay full whack.k14220 wrote:Hate to disapoint you but you have to be employed for a year to qualify for the cycle to work scheme, I tried and it got rejected as I am a month short of a yearrecently got offered a job as a postie and im pretty excited
And like someone said, Yeah halfords is a crap choice. Somewhere like Evans or Wiggle.co.uk would give the oppurtunity to get a much better bike for the money. And a range of more specialised bikes, which is what im looking for. Funnily enough the postal depot is literally 2 minutes down the road from me on foot, they would probably tell me to bugger off for cycling it anyway haha.

Actually ive looked through the FAQ and yeah its definately 12 months working with them before qualifying. And also they limit the spend to £500 with accessories.
I woulda probably been looking at spending about 7-800 on a bike after discount. I want something pretty high end.
Nevermind!, ill stick it on Buy now pay later! lol

If you look on Evans cycle web site under the sale section, you can get some crackers with XT gearing and chainsets for £800.00,I wouldn't buy a bike light from Halfords let alone a full bike.

did this show on your wage slip?allyjm wrote:part of the deal is that supposedly you use the bike to and from work...however doubt anyone is likely to check on how you use it or insist that you cycle to workHedge wrote:Thanks for the reply mate.
The only thing that bothers me is that Halfords dont often seem to stock the kind of bike i would be looking for. I want a pretty high end bike for my own personal leisure use. Ideally i would buy from elsewhere, but I guess it wont do me any harm to wait a month from now until im In the job, and start asking for as much info as possible then.
when i got mine, if i remember rightly you could choose how much you want to spend, and the amount deducted from your salary reflected this.. i got a bike worth £450, and paid it off my wages for 18 months maybe about £6 per week or so....and then the last payment to clear the repayments was £27
i got a bike a few months ago yest ive till to see money off my wage

You can use the halford vouchers in condor cycles in london they will deliver, or halfords will get any bike you want

Check the basic wage level it may have dropped. I pay for 2 weeks holiday and it does not get shown as a separate item on my payslip just the basic weekly wage drops to take it into account.custard wrote:c'mon, someone must know?

The bit I have coloured in red you need to check with your own older pay slips if you can but that £10 more than my basic so it looks as though they may not yet have started deducting it. But wait till someone else confirms this before contacting Sheffield.
