We haven't,throughout the forum there are many comlaints that there are no pouch boxes for instance.
We have never company wide had the right tools for the job.We waited over 5 years for our pouch boxes, and we're still waiting for more.

Each office/area is different.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

jaja you simply cannot state that we 'have all the tools for the job' unless you have worked in every office in the country

you haven't

you might work in an utopian office where everything is great and you have everything you need to do your job correctly - many of us don't

If your office is great brilliant for you

will it still be as brilliant when you work till 3 on a sat and do anything from a 3.5 to 7.5 delivery span in the sun, wind, rain and snow

with 6 d2d a week for £20.60

He included that in his post, to explain why he hadn't already banned you for 2 rule breaches on the same page. :d'oh! But getting back to the discussion: although I don't work in Deliveries myself, I have read far too many posts from people who've injured themselves through cutting corners to avoid constant Mangement pressure. And even where I work (where things aren't nearly as bad as it is in Deliveries) I personally know several people who've found themselves in the same position. And suffered back and shoulder injuries, because they've cut corners on H&S (specifically, carrying too much weight), because they've felt they've been pushed into a corner by Management. So to say that it's their responsibility, rather than the responsibility of BOTH themselves (for failing to stand up for themselves, and work safely regardless of any pressure) and their Managers (for setting unrelaistic targets) is IMHO extremely nieve. :hmmmm How you guys in Deliveries manage it, is beyond me. I take my hat off to you all! :Applause :Applause

you have to do what we did, sorted out secure safe pouch drops, thats what we did when we did not get pouch boxes

so we got vans, cycles, hct's if you don't ask you don't get

Bloody hell we must be in a good area, are things really that bad?

So you feel it's acceptable to have people pressured into cutting corners with quality and H&S then? :hmmmm
Or do you feel (as I do) that it's neccessary, and appropriate for us to try for better working conditions?
This has nothing to do with how hard people are prepared to work. It's whether we feel we should all be allowed to work hard, but safely, or not. :hmmmm

people have got to speak up for themselfs if things are not right, you can work hard and work safely but as for better working conditions well we do have a lot more that others do

ie full uniform, boots, waterproofs, vans, hct's, all i can do is compare it with what i used to do as a brickie, I had to buy out of my own pocket all my equipment, work in all types of weather, nothing changed there.

and graft solid all day all week plus saturdays in order to pay for my holidays, insurance, tools, work clothing, mortgage

so in compairson this job (in my view) is a piece off piss, sorry if you don't agree, mabe because you have not worked anywhere else

On the contrary. I worked in the Private Sector, before I became a Postman. And yes, it was worse, and I walked out over a H&S problem (they wanted me to use a vehicle with no MOT!). But we have the CWU to protect us here, so why not fight for better working conditions, rather than leaving every time you're badly treated?
It's better than being a burden on the Taxpayers, whilst you find a replacement job, isn't it? :hmmmm
