Re: FOR BALANCE - CWU NORTH EAST DIVISION FLYER
I am gobsmacked by this dribble from the North East. They of all areas should know that Royal Mail managers will negotiate locally with the yes men, if the deal suits them. They will certainly not negotiate any kind of deal with those who have stood up against them. It will be the DOM telling them what they are going to do, and that will be the shittiest delivery in the office. There is not one mention in this dribble about working to the top ten percent. There is a mention of working more outside hours due to higher call ratios etc. but nothing about how older/physically incapacitated postal officers will be able to cope with additional outdoor work in the heat of summer or the depths of a bitter winter. NOthing about how the management culture is going to be changed in order that the bullying and harrassment will cease. By the way this already seems to be rearing its ugly head, as it is now well documented that several line managers are off with stress. Are they now taking the brunt of bullying and harrassment from their line managers, and if so, this proves that there is no change to the culture in RM and therefore why should we have any reason to believe anything we are told. Its an enthatic NO vote from me until the thugs at the top of Royal Mail come out and apologise for what has happened over the last 3 years and cast in stone how they are personally going to handle any future bullying and harrassment of postal staff.

Have posted a question regarding this on their facebook page, will get back to you if i get a reply.POSTMAN wrote:I'm all for balance, but is the above not misleading?Full time working;- The agreement highlights that our industry will primarily be full time working so much so it has highlighted a 75 % - 25% split in full time / part time jobs. This is a fantastic opportunity for us in the North East to increase on average 15% of the part time workers to full time.
The split is national!
Although i know they are looking in anyway.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

This could get interesting,i've had a reply from Bob McGuire on facebook....
EDIT:I rem now,it was sent out as an email.
Is this the same 'controversial website' Bob where you decided to post an unoffical update (copy/paste one of 'the truths' posts)on your branch page, which, seems to have mysteriously disappeared!Postman Royal Mail Chat is not a person if you would like to leave your comments or thoughts then please do so but not as a name of a controversial website thank you Bob Mc

You do right to point it out postman because rumour has it one of the line managers here "suggested" there would be opportunities for more hours - which I suppose isn't a lie exactly but opportunity is like buying a lottery ticket, the opportunity is there the likelihood ,,,,,,,,,,,,, well that's a different matter.

More hrs, more part timers, more hrs, more part timers, more hrs, more part timers, the odd hr here, the odd hr there, does that equate to 15% of the part time workers to full time?dvbuk55 wrote:I don't suppose he lives in a village up there........................ or is that too unworthy.POSTMAN wrote:Just wanted an answer, just an answer...

Re: FOR BALANCE - CWU NORTH EAST DIVISION FLYER
At the risk of being even more unpopular but I do think the North East and other parts of the UK with an higher percentage of part timers last year agreed to go longer on delivery spans in order to get more of their part timers made up to full time.
If a part timer is on 20 hours delivery only and you increase the span by a hour and you include door to door you will increase the hours you have in that office. Equally where you have a large percentage of full timers like London then the question becomes have you got enough indoor work to keep the numbers of 40 or even 39 hours on full time duties.
I think you would have found Bumper and others have met with their Regional Directors to discuss each others aims and attempt to get a joined up strategy hence why they have put out the document.
Equally other divsional reps have met with their counter parts in the other Royal Mail regions and they have clearly been told from above that they have to abide by the whole agreement not just the bits they like. Of course the it is early days but at the meetings with the Directors I have been including London and Thames Valley I have to say their understanding of the agreement including less Saturdays, full time job ratos , revisions , door to door into workload etc were the same as what ours were.
Only time will tell and of course the members vote will decide if we have that time.

Re: FOR BALANCE - CWU NORTH EAST DIVISION FLYER
Don't you just love it when a joined up strategy comes together murdoch?
I don't know if I am in the minority here but I keep getting this 75/25 national split and wondering how it is going to be maintained - not least of all when recruitment comes along and the sequenced revision begin to take its toll on indoor work. Now I may be wrong here but it seems to me that the stark choice is going to be fewer duties, less staff, more FT or more duties, fewer hours more PT. Now it seems to me that these decisions are going to be taken at local level whether to lose staff or maintain staff and lose hours. If that is the case then how is 3 monthly checks going to be able to rectify any shortfall in the ratio. Indeed if anyone will be interested in around 75/25 split.
Our office is now 60/40 now how do we maintain staff levels and increase the ratio to 75/25 - if anyone has the answer to that I'd be happy to hear it and if it is D2D well don't bother.
