No answer from thehappyones, so presumably as you're not part of it, it's all canteen jokes whispers and heresay?
As Andy 2000 says, what's needed is a team member to give the rights and wrongs, rather than Chinese whispers for the sheep to chortle over...

What does World Class Mail mean?

Post by Roy Mayall »

It's there in the agreement, the commitment to something called "the World Class Mail initiative" which, apparently the CWU doesn't even understand as yet. How can we sign up to something when we don't know what it is? If anyone can explain it to me, let me know. I'd be interested.

Most of the info is on the clear noticeboards. Although I am surprised that he was able to find out how much the visits cost. We're not told that. Although we are told how much money each section can save once the "improvements" have been made.

We had him in the building about a year ago, and those who were interested could go and talk to him about the scheme. Although I didn't take them up on the offer, as WCM was imposed by EA. So personally, I'm not taking an active part in it (and neither are a large number of my Collegues). Although they only need one volunteer for each "pillar" per section. So they're still able to make it work.

But if you're interested in wasted money (which I am). You might be interested to know that all equipment gets restored as near as possible to new condition, at the start of the scheme. And I'm not just talking about the important stuff, like restoring the working parts. But a nice paint job. Now you tell me: What's the point in making the equipment look pretty?
And re-painting it if it gets a scratch? :hmmmm
I don't know how much it costs to do a professional paint job on an entire fleet of FLTs and Scuds (and they DID pay for a proper paint job). But it can't have been cheap!

Why didn't they just get all the important stuff back up to original condition, instead of wasting money on asthetics? :arrrghhh :no no

Like I've said before: IF it was implemented properly. It would be a truly wonderful system. because it would involve all of us, in the process of making our jobs safer and improving quality. But that simply isn't what it's being used for. And frankly, I find it depressing that RM have wasted this opportunity to improve things for all of us. INCLUDING the Management. Remember: If we improve QofS and safety, it'd improve their profits (more efficiency and less people on sick with injuries), whilst making it a safer and more fulfilling job for us. But all they seem to care about, is short term savings. Particularly in the form of job cuts. :cry :d'oh!

WCM is RM's "next big thing" so if there's someone actually involved in it on here, it would be good to hear what they think of it.

Someone not involved but who "finds facts and figures" and talks of "Japanese dudes" really isn't that person.
