Spoke to my sector manager this morning and he was ok with the idea of different delivery spans across the office. There are only so many hours in each office, how you fill them will be down to agreement.

Glass half full.
I've seen the Whole agreement and it's is the Worst Agreement Ever.
If your SOM thinks different delivery spans then it must be bad for the workers.
I bet your SOM thought absorbing was good,
I bet your SOM thought 3.5 hour deliveries were bad.
I bet your SOM thought treating people fairly was bad.
I bet your SOM thought rewarding incompetent DOMs was good.
why should you have the 2.5 hour delivery why not give it to the poor 25 hour man who has to prep and deliver 6 D2D a week because you think this is a good deal.
I doubt you would offer a good duty to anyone except yourself.
Greed and Laziness, thats what will get this bag of s**t voted through.

The agreement may be a joke.No doubt about it.However when we did tabletop revisions,(pencil & paper),and with a 2nd delivery everything was "hunky dory" right?

Well we got turned over by ourselves to be honest. A school of thought here.....

a) If the deal came up with a 1 hour delivery span, would we actually work FULL the hour?

b) If the deal says x amount of delivery span and x amount of D2D,with the intention of Walk Sequencing machines "doing all the work",and it doesn't.Your delivery span could still mean an hour..it just means that you are at Royal mail for 8 hours

c) The performance standards are agreed by us,as is the system they use,(Pegasus & Indoor Workload Tool).

d) Can't finish your D2D? OK,you still get the payment.

If the agreement is passed we have to use it to our advantage. Make it work.

No. there are good parts of the agreements, the new terms on EVR and VR and traveling allowance for people displaced by MC closures.

It's just that we are currently discussing (in my opinion) the worst part of the agreement.

i haven't said it will be a nightmare from day one. Your sector manager said "There are only so many hours in each office, how you fill them will be down to agreement." Thats right and next year there will be less, ask him, will there be no further buisness savings next year or the year after?

With less staff and less hours what happens to delivery spans? The number of calls in your office won't decrease will it. will that be in breach of a National Agreement as it would be without this agreement?

NO Delivery Span! NO Agreement! :evil/mad

I promise you....put a national delivery span in and it will be "rush time" again! Did the 3 and a half one work...no! Because we want to get it done,(line managers included) in 2 and a half

Want to tell us what they really are then?

Have they been halfed or are you, and i assume the CWU, misrepresenting them?

I promise you without one, they will get bigger and bigger with nothing that we can do about it!

When people are being medically retierd and sacked for to much sick absence because they are no longer physically able to do their job, will the CWU fund there legal action for constructive dissmisal?

Put a local delivery span in and it will be "rush time" again.
Do you think people will not want to get a 4hr or a 4.5hr done in less time.
There will be no sudden "epiphany" when locally agreed spans come in.
Flyers will always be flyers.the only difference is this time they will be harrasing some poor guy they are teamed up with to get finished early..
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

It's funny. The very few who work safely get called "Lazy B*****s" by fellow members in some offices. In fact these people are a rarity. They happily work their time.......strange that?

You have genuine opportunity now to set them yourself.I am not "bigging up" the deal in any shape or form. However the 2010 agreement will allow your area reps/reps to attend a planning workshop and input REAL figures. If you as an office want 2mph...so be it.But ban the bloody cars..they are the bane of any reps life!!!

That and early starters and people working through their tea break.
if everyone gets returned to the office there will be no problem with cars, and anyway they are banned in this agreement, i have no problem with that!

I'm skeptical about we can have 2mph if we want it. and I would like set figures in the National Agreement. I was under the impression thats what we were on strike for.

If you like the agreement theirs no reason not to be "bigging up" the deal.
I'm sure we can have an adult disagreement. The delivery spans are a deal breaker for me no matter what else is in it!

I have had so many issues with performance standards,I do tend to be more sympathetic towards folk who don't drive! Sorry!
However it is the majority who do drive and...let's be honest...that is why we are where we are.

No need to be sorry i'll admit i used to take my car. I've always taken my meal relief and started at the correct time, even when we had a job and finish even on a saturday. but i still used my car as RM wouldn't return me to the office as SDD said you finish on the street. I asked my area rep he said you finish on the street. didn't want to walk 3 miles back to office in my own time to get my car.

If you have had issues with performance standards and you like The agreement on performance standards then thats reasuring, if you think the runners will slow down i hope your right but, i doubt it.

POSTMAN You used to have a 4 day week negotiated locally under phase 2 flexability yeah.....what happend to it when there was a buisness savings at your office ? .....did your unit Rep have any option in this ? .....did your DOM have any option in this, or was he doing what his boss told him/was it only your office?

Even if you's pick somthing nice from the menu of options, on this years a la carte menu don't expect to have that every year. The menu is not part of the agreement ! (it's mentioned in the agreement but it it's self is not in the agreement!) so that begs the question whats "the specials" on next years menu or the year after.....

If your Dom's boss tells him to make savings by increasing delivery spans will he say no ? will your Rep be able to do anything about it ? will they be breaking a National Agreement ?

Maybe RM will treat us better now! if so why is one of the ammendments concerning RM breaking the interim agreement!

NO Delivery Span! NO Agreement! :evil/mad

ps. how can i make that a footnote.
I agree,i agree :Very Happy was just pointing out the bits.

It is a big worry, though we're strong in our branch, but judging what i read on here,i fear very much for others.

But this is where the fight starts, this is where the back bone which has been lost since P&M needs to come back.

Also i've sorted your sig,but can't put the smilie in.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
