It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re:- Later start times
I appreciate your sentiments but I wouldn't cancel my subscription to the Union, apart from negotiations and agreements there are a wealth of services and other support for the individual.pme2001 wrote:So why bother going out on strike this friday when our union rep seems to have already made his mind up on behalf of his members???
Royal Mail will win in the end due to the apparent cracks and widening divides that are already happening within the CWU!
I for one will be cancelling my union subs due to lack of support from my union rep!

Had a load of reps from other areas in our gaff today for a big meet with the area managers with regards to the later start start times,my guess it was thrown out unless a huge sweetner was involved for the workers. The cwu reps were area reps and branch sec's from a number of different office's,so it was a seriously big meeting.
RM seem to have got it in their head to bring these later starts in by exec action, well that will go down like a lead ballon, they seem hell bent of running whats left of the bussiness in to the ground.

later starts
They have told posties in the Preston area the same but locally distribution are telling the managers that they will not change their dispatch times until there is a national agreement in place and nationaly logistice are saying the same. keep your nerve mate they are trying all sorts to get you to move. Without movement in the network there is no need for deliveries to move

1.33 Postcomm’s Final Proposals also include a requirement to report on the
collection and delivery times. As Postcomm knows, Royal Mail’s transformation
plan will require some changes to collection and delivery times – indeed,
Postcomm’s Final Proposals are based on a capital expenditure plan that
specifically includes changes to collection and delivery specifications. The need
for such changes must be recognised as a key ingredient of cost reduction – or
efficiency targets need to be modified.

And i was thinking that the 56mph excuse must be true.
In the PE area mangment have commited to sticking to the IR framework ,but havent said what happens after the IR framework has been exhausted!
No proposals yet in my delivery office
We dont have a night shift and our first mail arrival is 3.30 am so no reason why that can not be at st neots in time for 5 am starts! After all RM still get to send the van out 90 mins later so why change start times, especially for IPS duties!

In our office today I was told that I have a meeting to discuss later start times on thursday, but more than this they are trying to introduce longs and shorts too. Before long not only will we have lost our early morning allowance but we will lose our collection in the afternoon, with post guys having to collect on their way back. Still as long as Al & Ad get their hard earned bonus everything will be hunky dunky.

Later starts
The 56mph is being used as a big con.
While realisticly some offices will be affected because of the run time from the mail centre to the office, distribution runs could be put in place to feed the offices through the night as in our area.
This will give the posties a head of work until the main dispatch arrives and so enabeling in most cases start times to remain as they are.
I have asked the management locally to justify later starts and am still waiting for a responseother than "I'll have to ask Alan".

The secret here disgruntledpostie is a lead sole on the drivers right boot on Saturdays and maybe diplomatic immunity from speeding. In our proposal which the rep has rightly refused to discuss we too appear to have a Super Saturday lorry.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:Our lorry will be arriving earlier on Saturdays I just wonder why we can't have the same super lorry everyday.![]()

Re: later starts
Thanks for that Lennyc - I am from the PR area and we have been wondering where we stand with distibution runs - obviously if the mail isn't at the DO then we don't have much of a defence - there has been rumours about "Executive Decision"to force through the later starts by 30/7/7. If we all stick together then they can't make it work.lennyc wrote:They have told posties in the Preston area the same but locally distribution are telling the managers that they will not change their dispatch times until there is a national agreement in place and nationaly logistice are saying the same. keep your nerve mate they are trying all sorts to get you to move. As I understand it we have to be given 28 days notice of these changes and unless you count rumours that hasn't happened yet.
