So are you suggesting that you or I have more idea of what is or isn't genuine than someone working in an international section who ensorses some letters 'Signature Required' but not others ?
Barcode or not, if someone has paid extra for a Registered or other such premium service then they can expect to get confirmation of delivery. :Very Happy
:hmmmm No barcode - no signature, how else do we scan in the code?
I've not got a PDA and have never had one, so do you suggest I deliver all Recrdeds and Specials without getting a signature ?
I would have thought the old signature on paper method would be used as a contingency method if necessary.
What are you on about? Recordeds and Specials only get delivered after they've been signed for and I didn't say otherwise, foreign signed fors have barcodes on them because that's just how they're done, sometimes they don't have stickers to pull off and put onto a card but if they're legitimate then they'll have a barcode.
I'm on about 'foreign signed fors' needing proof of delivery just the same as Recordeds and Specials do.

get em signed for?

if they go missing whos head is on the line .

u know the come back is going to be - THAT WAS A SIGNED FOR

or the customer can claim it was a signed for even if they recieved it and prove they never signed anything.

just because its from abroad.

i take it ur MANAGER told u you can do this...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

well in our office we had a big fuss about sign for cards that are still used on walks. We were told that we cannot hand write bar code numbers on the cards.....so how do you get a foreign one signed for as more often than not they have no peel of sticker :arrrghhh . Me? i hand write & get a sig better safe than sorry

And what about the Foreign recordeds that have "advice of delivery" cards stuck on the back of the envelope.

Usually they're not written in English so you have no idea where the time/signuature should go. I bet a lot of these are not completed either! :cuppa

Yes, they could easily be overlooked.

I get mine in the packet bags not from callers office, I always get them signed for, aside anything else not doing it is just cutting corners to save time, time which ultimately RM want you to do something else, so by getting them signed you are not only providing the service expected but doing the job properly. I pride myself on being an old school postie delivering to my local community and being a big part of that fabric, RM may wish to erode this ideal but whilst it is still in my power to provide this service I will.
