Re: Dispatches Ch4:Your views
I have to change my opinion I'm afraid.
When the announcement came about the interim agreement and then the CWU London and Royal Mail London joint statement came about, I was a little bit critical, probably more than a little critical because I thought we all worked for the same firm - HOW WRONG I WAS.
Well I think I have the ideal solution. CWU London and Royal Mail London negotiate in their own little world and the rest of us will get on with the real world of a postal delivery service.
I realise that my opinion will not be welcome but it is the stark truth - if they did the same sort of programme in the North they would find a disciplined workforce where people are sacked for leaving packets on the doorstep, disciplined for leaving mail in the frame unjustifiably - I see posters on here saying how strong the union is in London -but what I saw wasn't strength it was bullying of the worst kind against a management that is weak. If I was to be the new head of Royal Mail the first thing I would do is recruit hard line managers and put out to pasture those weak willed people who purport to be managing a delivery office in London.

Regarding the thieving gits part. When I get envelopes that are opened like some that were shown I always thought it was the machines they went through. Also it only takes another card to be pushed along side another to sometimes make them open.steven100 wrote:Yep we are all lazy, thieving gits. Also we are holding RM to ransom![]()

So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Some of it in London is to do with over zealous political correctness , if there is weak managers they might be badly supported or led .
I found most of the managers to be very off hand and unprofessional . The programme was cr** , like a Student Media Studies Film , seen better on You Tube .
Tooting just happened to be Dave Ward's old office

I will say one thing against your statement in that London were on four day ten hour shifts and too move to five day's would cause big problems for all!.dvbuk55 wrote:I have to change my opinion I'm afraid.

Having your Christmas meeting with the manager in the canteen, not very professional ,any meeting that I was ever in,was in the managers office, you either came to an agreement that was put before the members,or if no agreement you registered disagreement and passed it on to the Areas rep.But it was all done in a structured way.
The more you know, the worse it gets.

Of course it is but that is because you have customers. I once did a survey for a manager, some years ago, on damaged cards as opposed to other types of mail on receipt at the delivery office it was a 10/3 ratio, and some of the damage was quite sophisticated.shadow wrote:Well all I can say is my customers mail is safe with me.
