Trouble is you get a poxy programme like this who are just out to shock and take cheap pot shots for everyone to jump on. Then all is forgotten that we were one of the only foot services which kept moving in the snow. My recycle bin did not get empted for nearly 5 weeks for christ sake.

Why dont they make a proper program using " a letter from your postman" . then at least you would see both sides, it really makes me sick

Why should any of us be worried it is management's decisions and theirs alone we have no say we have to do as they say within reason it is their show or no show/flop/disgrace let them carry the can for their own mistakes may it hang long over their heads!.

Wouldn't be surprised if Mandelson was the cameraman. He hasn't got long to swing the axe further, before the tories get in. Also read that a Postie was jailed for 15months in it too, thou Manager get 6 months.. Now whats the difference as theft is theft.

Looking at the advert for this program it seems that a postie tells the 'undercover' reporter that he "opens cards and just puts the money in his pocket" now why would he tell him that?? This reporter was probably only working as a postman for a few weeks and a postie came out with that.
Now I have been a postie for 11 years and at no time has anybody said to me "hey guess what Im nicking stuff"

Channel 4 backs down on postal theft claim

Royal Mail withdrew its threat of legal action against Channel 4 last night after the broadcaster admitted that it had been wrong to claim that credit cards were being stolen from the post by temporary staff.

The damaging assertion was one of the main allegations levelled at Royal Mail in a Dispatches programme last April. The programme secretly filmed a Royal Mail agency worker admitting he had stolen a credit card from the post. He then supplied it to an undercover reporter. Channel 4 admitted yesterday that evidence subsequently supplied by Barclaycard proved the card in question had never been sent through the post and was, in fact, being fenced by the worker away from Royal Mail premises. "Channel Four regrets this inadvertent inaccuracy," it said in a statement issued with Royal Mail.

The broadcaster also acknowledged that it had not got any evidence to support a newspaper advertisement for the Dispatches programme which depicted an actor dressed as a Royal Mail worker opening a birthday card and removing money from it. "During the period of undercover filming, no such or similar acts were filmed," the statement said.

Channel 4 acknowledged the vast majority of Royal Mail's 200,000 workforce were honest but it added that the programme had provided a "valuable public service" in supporting Royal Mail's argument it should be allowed to vet casual workers for criminal records.

They won't be happy until ITV news / current affairs is like Fox News in the States
