It's not just a smoking issue.
Next time you see someone nip out for one, stop and look around your office.
You will see people standing drinking coffee,p1ssing about with their mobiles, engaging their managers in "meaningful conversation" checking their dropbags AGAIN and various other ways of avioding work. :shhhhh
Leave us poor smokers alone,Everybody hates us and we will all die earlier anyway leaving more pension for you lot.
BTW I would never have a ciggie when there is work to be done. :angel
Sorry but if you have 2 fag breaks a day that is say 20 mins
you work 5 days a week = 100 mins
you work average 45 weeks a year = 4500 mins = 75 hrs a year

So you get an extra 2 weeks a year off paid for by RM.

If I as a non smoker go out in the yard and stand around doing nothing twice a duty, I'll soon get asked what I'm up to, the sooner they make RM premises a no smoke zone the better, they should make you buggers sign out when you go for a smoke.
Blokes in our DO smoke in vans, and if you're a non smoker, you dare to complain, what you guys don't realise is when you smoke in the van you are breaking the law, not some rule dreamt up by RM, if you lit up in a cafe now, you'd get chucked out or arrested, smoking in works vans is the same offence.
Wait a minute,I do the same IPS as a non-smoker,
The same prep as a non-smoker
And deliver the same size walk as a non-smoker
but i have 100 mins "spare" a week for smoking.
You non-smokers must be a bunch of lazy B*stards :chuckle :chuckle

As far as smoking in a van is concerned mate,I don't,I don't even smoke in my own car/house or even my shed. :cuppa
P.S Would you run to management if a collegue was finishing 20mine early each day :hmmmm
Does the wife know you are getting an extra fortnights holiday a year? Just think if we go down to a 35 hour week it will two weeks and a bit. Taken over a career average of say 70 years (yes you will be 90 when you are allowed to retire) - that would be 2 x 70 = 140 weeks or 2 and a half years :wave

As a non smoker I can't be arsed to give a flying French Connection (UK), as long as:

1. They don't smoke in the vans.
2. They don't smoke indoors.
3. They don't come off IPS to have a drag.
4. They don't have a sly drag when they should be prepping someones else's walk.

If they want to have a fag break when they are only delaying themselves - good luck to them. With their reduced life expectancy the pension deficit won't look so bad

10 minutes to smoke a cigarrette??

When I was a heavy smoker I could light up and stub out in under 3 minutes, whilst hiding from the gaffer behind the yorks.

Mind I went through 2 lighters a day.

The way i look at it TBT,I don't worry about what other people are doing at work therefore i have lower blood pressure and can afford to smoke.

It's a ying/yang balance thing. :chuckle

Been to the Doctor once in 30 years of smoking mate and that was tendonitis,RM related not as far as i'm aware smoking related.
Now how much have i paid in ciggarette tax in 30 years. :hmmmm
Only a matter of time before 30 years of abusing your body catches up with you. Don't try to fool yourself it's harmless. The tax you've paid you would have paid anyway with VAT on other purchases like new goods or new cars/fuel. So there's no benifit to the tax coffers only a massive drain on NHS. Just say NO! :no no

Indeed, but what that has got to do with smoking at work I have no idea.
