May I ask how they are having you for wilfull delay as you said in an earlier post.
agree - you have to be seen as having gone through the official channels otherwise RM will twist everything round to make you out to be the troublemaker in a tribunal ( yes it is laughable but RM will do it ) and any award can be reduced by up to 25 % .

It does sound like a very arrogant fit up , far too typical these days unfortunately , a very serious and unprofessionally motivated charge which RM have to prove . Very nasty & vindictive :hmmmm - their attitude is - once the braindead RM machine kicks in , it's difficult to stop - like something out of prison ? .

Sorry but I don't buy this sit on everything attitude from the Union - the era when management were relatively benign is long gone - unless they're frightened of being next :hmmmm .

The RM HR Director over there had 472 tribunal cases taken out against him when he was at Bombardier Shorts , he even spied on someone in his garden from a hidden van and took the " malingerer " in the office with a rep ( a metal sheet the size of a billiard table had fallen on him ) .

The AEUU ? couldn't afford all those tribunal cases and sacked staff had to go to their MP's . No wonder RM headhunted him . He's sacked quite a few stewards from BS . With one strike in Belfast - he tried the sectarian card smear which was total rubbish .

I think on one march , allegedly the whistles were bought from the King Billy shop - the Union Jack tags were taken off .

get a tribunal application ( Form IT - 1 from a jobcentre / dole office ) in to keep the pressure up on RM - they'd be hoping you'd go away quietly and are daft enough to fall for all their B/S .

Another thing for the future is the press , there would be a few women's magazines that would be interested in inconsistencies - the likes of " Bella " , " Take a Break " etc - RM would sh** themselves .

Play RM at their own game :hmmmm .

Sci_Dog: dont answer if you dont want to - but what does putting the USO at risk actually mean? I thought it referred to intentional delay but that was already given as a seperate point in your letter....

And what does "causing additional expense to the business relate to?"

Royal Mail are unbelievable!

it's all purely to impress somebody more senior - it doesn't matter how vague , obscure or bizarre the "reasoning" / "justification" is is - all Bean Counter accountancy stuff . If RM make sweeping serious allegations they have to prove them .

Bullying fit up - end of , vicious & hostile .

What would be interesting is the figures for posties dismissed which then on appeal, (obviously not at the internal appeals stage i.e. Snr Appeals Manager) get overturned at an ET.

Wonder what the percentage is in a given timescale, and also, wonder if a SAM has ever overturned a DOM/MCM's decison, I bet never!

Dave Ward says that RM are terrified of a investigation into their " management " . The whole idea is to grind staff down so they don't make trouble outside RM .

If Royal Mail could sort out the management issue then that would go a long way to sorting the company out. (BTW whether or not you support privatiation - this would sort this matter out once and for all). Everyone knows about the management style, even the Sawyer report highlighted this in 2001. I honestly dont know how some managers can sleep at night.

Whats the difference between Intentional Delay & Wilful Delay, can someone please enlighten me? Sci_Dog - you mention previously that you got a 2-yr Serious for this combined with putting the USO at risk...are you saying the DOM is trying to rehash this? Or is this another set of seperate charges? Reading between the lines is he trying to do you on 'performance issues'?

Sounds like a right tw@t.

I think its a difference in how the delay was carried out

Willful is a planned and deliberate act. Like leaving stuff on top of the frame without permission, putting mail back into the system without attempting delivery etc.

Intentional Delay is unplanned but still deliberate like finding a letter in the wrong place and putting it to one side to deliver later, but then forgetting it and finding it when you get back.

I hasten to add I have no idea if that's right its just a guess.

Hooper was scathingly critical of Senior & Middle Mgt too - " lacking the expertise to run a postal operation " - :mfo - " Genetically Deficient " . UNITE/CMA " 70's Car Factory management " , " a arrogant employer that thinks only they have the solutions to RM's problems and always knows best " .

With a regimented , outdated top down style - this cancer works it's way down to the DIM DUM's & MCM's who originally were meant to be :lfo 's mouthpieces & p*** & wind junior managers . A former Senior RM senior manager was scathing about the brinksmanship policy , another ( Bishop ) said the business plan was corporate suicide .

To be fair not all are in the :cfo fan club - and nobody is immune to RM . The system was never that good before :lfo & :cfo , just the worst of both worlds . It happens with square pegs being pushed into round holes for privatisation .
