"Forgive me father for I am about to sin"

Dont know what you are trying to pull here and trying to justify becoming a gaffers poodle that Christmas is coming up.You have had months to prepare financially for this and its for around £40 a week a measly sum compared to what the guys and gals in London have sacrificed.

Deep down YOU know its wrong and if you can put up with the looks your work mates are going to give you after you have shafted them your going to need more than a bottle of Nightnurse to get you to sleep @ night.

Happy a Merry Christmas :speak to the hand

12 years of service should put you quite high up the seniority list so your job isn't really on the line. You can just work your time, it doesn't mattter how crap your job is just grit your teeth.
Unfortunately somebody is last on the list and ready for first out. Not only that but some don't have the strength of character that you have and can't take the pressure from management and the lack of job satisfaction.

I know who the few that really struggle during industrial action in our office are and if my day off falls on a strike day then I'm quite happy to swap my day off with them to help out. You could try asking about in your office ... you don't lose pay and others get the 'day off'. Not perfect but better than going it alone.

Can't you just get some temporary part-time work to fill the gap? Or maybe sell some odds and sods sitting around unused? Maybe dig into the overdraft?

I thought that was bit strong to be honest, especially mentioning the kids.

edit: Until I read Prestwick's comment, ridiculous to have to put up with that.

maybe it would help if the union got more involed with helping out striker's that fall into financial trouble. and not helping the sc*b's of course.

Ogg, these are just words on a screen. How you gonna cope with facing your colleagues?

Think, think, then think again my friend.

Maybe in the long run you'd be better of going bankrupt.

Just a thought, but at least you'd get the banks/finance companies etc off your case.

As I said in the 2007 strikes, I'm a single parent, I've 2 teenage kids 15 & 16, the older one has moved in with his dad, so I have to pay his dad, though his dad don't pay for the 15 year old because he's work shy. Obviously I only have my wage coming into the house and have to pay all the usual rent/bills etc, the kids birthdays are in november, then we've got xmas, so we all have financial commitments! BUT THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD EVER CROSS THE PICKET LINE! Do you think we want to strike? No. But RM have left us no other option the kids will have to learn to go without again this year as they did in 2007 and 2003.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

What a crock of shite.

There are no excuses. As if £60 is going to stave off bankruptcy and eviction and pay for christmas, total rubbish.
