crazylegs wrote:Using Cars on delivery is a disgrace. It's because of these people that royal mail are giving us more and more work to do for nothing. If everyone stopped using cars on delivery royal mail would need more drivers and more duties to cope with postman acceleration demand. YOU'RE ALL FOOLS FOR USING YOUR CARS
Because cars are factored into these Pegasus reviews that are causing all the problems aren't they....

Actually no they're not, cars have nothing to do with it.

How many more times people!!!

Assistant secretary Bob Gibson replies:Letter in the voice
Firstly, neither I nor anyone else is saying
that you should not use your car to get to
work. I was explaining CWU policy, which is
to end the use of private cars on delivery.
Secondly, if you have to travel back to the
office after your delivery then this should be
included in your duty as would travel time
out to your delivery.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

It's still a case of interpretation though,on the one hand, when a duty is
planned,it must include time to get you out and also back again.
However, are the business obliged to get you back?
They always use the term conveyance,so effectively they are getting the
mail out,and you are simply safeguarding it,however once you've finished
seems to be the grey area.
Another issue altogether though is,are these DOM'S actually increasing the
delivery span,by suggesting you don't have to return to the office, the 15mins
to pouch off/return could conveniently of been added to the delivery :hmmmm

I'm considering purchasing my own personal sequencing machine, do you think RM would allow me to keep it in my office ? and does anyone know if there is a company policy covering energy use for running said machine,do we get an allowance?

Why? They're useless - you'd be much better off buying a car with the money, you'd finish earlier too. :chuckle

that in itself is open to some interpretation, it could be argued that if you have somewhere on your walk to drop off stuff then you wouldnt "have" to travel back.
However, I do think that it cant be right to have someone come into a place of work by car then shipping them out however far and then expecting them to make their own way back to their own car again.

:chuckle :chuckle I'm sure as long as you have the proper insurance then you'll be OK :nervous but it does sound like a good idea, buying all the equipment you need to do your job, just think of the bonuses RM management could pay themselves then

Since i began in my office we have ALWAYS factored in conveyance time as part of the duty , Christ if they left us out there to make our own way back there would be bloody uproar.
As for cars there are a total of 2 maybe 3 people in our office that use them,
