Re: 4 day week
The days off are great but our shifts need sorted big time, what we really need is a union rep with a spine

Re: 4 day week
can't understand how you can get out for 9.00, we can't get out of office till 10.30? thats how our walks, vans, were planned, so hence the walks were planned for 3 and half hour delivery spans, and vans 4 hours. everyone in office takes their half hour break at 8.00, then their other half hour at end off duty at 2.30. finish at 2.15 on street, 15 mins pouching off for the walks, 15mins travelling back to office for the vans. we don't have van share or trollies but longer delivery spans are coming in sooner or later thats how we need to get a national agreement on new delivery model etc to protect our terms and conditions,

Re: 4 day week
Only some of us have our breaks, like i say some just work through it, we get mail at 4.45, 7 and last feed at 8.45, if you're a fast sorter u leave when the missorts come in, don't get me wrong some leave a lot later than this but then u need overtime, the shifts are still too big but it falls on deaf ears, it's a case of "if you can't do yer job then there's plenty other people that can" in our office most are scared of our manger so they won't say anything.
From the sec we start at5 till we finish our heads are down.
22yrs working with royal mail and i've never been so fed up

Re: 4 day week
How can you have a 4 day week with a 3.5 hr delivery span? Surely it has to be longer?jcjd wrote:shows what a bit of planning can dohels wrote:my office is on a 4 day week, and its brill, walks 3 and half delivery spans, drivers 4 hour delivery spans, drivers been on it for 2 and half years, walkspersons been on it for 1year and half, its hard going at times but days off make it worthwhile.4 day weeks when planned well are the way to go

Probably designed after or during SDD when the agreed maximum delivery span should be planned at 3.5 hours.

Re: 4 day week
it took a lot of time and planning, as at that time our walks were 2-2 and half hr delivery spans, we did lose a few duties, our office was done before longer delivery spans were even thought of. under sdd the national agreement was 3 and half hr delivery span, and still is?

Re: 4 day week
Our office brought 4 day weeks in as part of phase 2 after 2007 strikes, 3.5 hrs is still the maximum delivery span. We gave up some duties and in return got a 4 day week, do your job by the book and most days you can fill a 10+ hour day. We know at some point monday and tuesday their would have to be some changes but that would have to be through local agreement on the back of a national agreement the way its always been but now rm have brought in EA in our office but we will deal with themTrueBlueTerrier wrote:pickaname wrote:How can you have a 4 day week with a 3.5 hr delivery span? Re: 4 day week
But if their deliveries are still 3.5 hrs what do they do to fill out the rest of their day. an extra 2 hrs on our day would mean longer walks.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:pickaname wrote:How can you have a 4 day week with a 3.5 hr delivery span?
