And how many times have you seen that happen recently? IMHO they are as frightened as anyone of looking to be below par and turning in less than acceptable figures even though the targets set are totally unrealistic. I can't understand the mentality of people who accept what is patently unachievable and try to foist it on staff who know what will and will not work - and in truth they know themselves it won't work but cannot say no.

Lets not forget that there is a performance aggrement of 25 letters in a minute for RM 2000 frames and standards for IPS as well, the only problem is that aggrement was never put to a vote of the members as far as I know.

As has been proven on this site there are different standards all over the country illustated perfectly by the fact that machester have to meet a target of 16 on a RM2000 prep frame whilst down in my neck of the woods its only 11. Could it be that the 11 is reasonable and the 16 isnt or perhaps you feel the 11 is not a realistic figure either.

16 in my view is off the scale and not acheivable, 99% at least in my office could not meet that figure. However that 99% figure drops a fair bit when you use 11 as the target.

Come on boys and girls what is a realistic figure on a prep test that you could accept and do you know what rate you are working at?

Have you ever had the one min test did you make the 25 letters in a min target that CWU and RML agreed on a few years ago.

Do you agree with the 25 figure or do you thinks its too high.

Plenty has been said about what is not achiveable but what is achiveable, there must be some figures that all the various posters on RMC can agree on?

I did a 1 minute test a few years ago and all I did was aim to put it roughly in the right place (they were only interested in the speed not the accuracy) and as for the Pegesus rate, the rate they want in my office is 16.8 per minute which only 2 or 3 people can meet but it's worse for the reserves who change duties on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis, who'll never be able to keep up :arrrghhh

16.8

I reckon that would take you mbrs over the 25 letters a min if achived.

I was prep tested last year gota figure of just under 10, a few years earlier i managed the 25 a min under the performance standards aggrement.

I have heard rumours from other offices in different areas they are abandoning job and finish, Is this true?
To my mind its job and finish has significantly contributed towards ruining the high standards of the job. All posties wanna do now is "carve" the job up and cut all corners possible to get home a little bit earlier at the expense off their jobs.
i.e.....
1. coming in before their start time by as much as an hour :no no
2. Not taking meal reliefs of any kind :cuppa
3. "Running/sprinting" round at high speed to get done
4. Doorstepping ALL the time :whistle
5.Being iggnorant to customers by not "giving them the time off day" :silenced
....and the list goes on, but these are many off the key points
Most posties in my office do one, many or ALL of these practices everyday!!
Most off this is down to job and finish!!! :d'oh!
The jobs complety f****d. :cry
Now when anyone does the job "properly" they get moaned at by management for taking their time :funneh
I have mentioned to staff before now about job and finish and my feelings on it, but all I get is "I just wanna get the job done and get home, I don't care"...I can't blame them and accept the fact u cannot change ppls attitude easily...
The only way is to abandon Job and finish at a higher level.. :Very Happy
You are spot on!
This happens in my office and by the looks of it all over the country,
Job and Finish has knackered this job,
people have the attitude 'I am alright Jack!'
Everything you have detailed goes on at my office,
Is it any wonder we are now paying the price for it; with Cuts all over the place?
