There is a Legal requirement for weighing delivery bags " Manual Handling Regulations 1992."
We only got our scales about 2 years ago. Doesn't that show how fast Royal Mail work sometimes.

As I understand it, the correct `weight`s` are:

1st pouch=16kg
2nd pouch=14kg
3rd pouch=12kg
4th pouch=10kg
etc.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

In our office any bag drops are 11kg or less,a postman with a delivery bag takes out 16kg ,and a h.c.t.trolley 105kg max,the more bags you have the lighter they get.

I believe the CWU Health & Safety Dept now have or will have an agreement for 16kg first delivery bag followed by 11kg all delivery other bags.
The present system was unworkable. :wave

Why change it for  although my post was not spot on it was there or there abouts.
It gave us(the donkeys) the right to have bags 8kg or under, hence most of the time we're cutting off, ect, ect.
If it changes to all 11kg,it gives RM more scope to cane us.
:no no
But as far as i'm aware, someone please confirm,it's NOT down to cwu h&s it's the h&s of the land,if you see what i mean.

I don't weigh my bags. As I can't lift a 16Kg bag (I deliver from the golf trolly) my first 2 bags are normally at the limit of what I can lift. (Trolly holds 2 bags).
If other bags are close to what I can lift I warn driver that the bags are heavy.

I know of a manager that set 2 8Kg bags into 1 16Kg bag (being takem to a postie who had already completed a full delivery)

Managers are all willing to force others into dangerous work practices but they will not take responsibility.

As above, I stand corrected. As `Postman says` New H/S AGREEMENT Now:

1.1st Pouch 16 kg
2.All others 11 kg

The `old` figures were proving too difficult to monitor.

I want one of them but my round (Beruit/Baghdad combined) is so dodgy it would go missing the first day I used it.
