My office is on that list and we definitely haven't gone live. We're understaffed by at least 10 people, and virtually every walk is failing mail everyday (I had 4 days' mail on half of my delivery today), and undelivered D2Ds from weeks ago are piled up underneath the frames. The powers that be (above the level of COM) have reluctantly postponed inplementation due to these issues, but are trying to put pressure on our rep to sign us off as ready to go, with the implication that if he doesn't they'll force it in by executive action.

The rep said 'no go'?

Yes, he's refusing to sign us off and he's constantly in the COM's office arguing about our state of unreadiness.

That bravery deserves recognition. Get the members to write to the branch giving your whole hearted support to the rep. The CWU will be leaning on your rep to give the go. You all need to send the area and div rep the message that your rep has your full support. If its not right and the health checklist isn't agreed then it's no go until it's right.

It’s f***ing disgusting that those two overpaid lazy twats at the top of the CWU are in hiding/on an extended summer holiday whilst this continues to take out delivery offices and their staff one by one across the country.
It’s ODM in a slightly different name and no amount of their stupid propaganda will convince me otherwise.
We had it brought in 3 weeks ago and it’s absolutely insane the work we are not expected to do going forward. Leaving second class on one side saves some time no doubt but a lot of that time disappears with double mail on the other side. It will NEVER free up enough time for a postie to do another third of a delivery even on the longer shifts available in the pick of shitty options that Walsh served us up. Walsh and Ward should be front of the queue demonstrating how this can be done because it’s not f***ing possible by a human being, maybe an OpenAI android could do it in the future but not us.
I’m sure my post will be deleted from this board as I’ve probably went overboard criticising the waddling Demi gods that run the union but who cares anymore. Like many I’m now absolutely done with this ridiculous f***ing job and I’m determined to be out of here in the next 6-12
Months.We are payed nowhere near enough to deal with this crap. Complete s**t show.

Why did the rep say "go'?

I’m honestly not sure, it’s a big office and I’m not massively close to the rep. We have had several area union lumps waddling around the office telling us the same propoganda that Walsh pushed “it’s less than you do now” so I’m guessing the rep has been pressured or just flat out believed them. It’s definitely not less work as anyone who has done DM26 in the real world will tell you.

Write to the branch voicing your concerns. The CWU need to know where they are going wrong.

I want to point out the obvious here, yet at the same time I can already internally hear their rationale for why that ridiculous statement makes sense...

Offices that have manageable duties are a lot easier to implement DM26 if you have an office that has been a mess since last car crash revision but they refuse to sort out our undoable duties and want to give put back 5 duties but keep the delivery points on existing frames our rep has refused this option we had a meeting last week we made our feelings crystal clear and we told them to do what they want with zero engagement from ourselves to be perfectly honest nobody cares including managers.

Yeah, many will be delayed.... but give it 2 weeks and we'll probably have a lot more people on here reporting back on how terrible things are as more offices do get things going.

Same in our office its a complete mess 10 years of failure with no one Union or Management willing to tackle it ,we were told the union would not sign DM26 off until duties were addressed but management steam roller on and looks like the union will just sign it off for a quiet life ,but lets be honest this has been going on since privatisation ,the unions have no clout anymore in the UK.

The CWU agreed to implement ODM as a trial back in December 2024, so the talks around that would have begun a few months earlier - so almost exactly 2 years ago. That's 2 years wasted where they could have fixed the offices that have been failing for the past 6 years. Moving onto such another huge change in DM26 without the agreement being followed only ends one way. Failure.
We all had a huge laugh in ours when we saw the first draft of how DM26 works - a duty that currently has 6 loops has to take 4 loops of heavy and 4 loops of light, therefore 8 loops in total. (4 heavy, 4 light). Our duties have become so massive that many shared vans have about 20 loops, 10 per person, that take about 3-4 days to get round to ensure that there is a semblance of rotating the mail - that when 2 people are on it. Huge double and even triple slot frames with extra ends bolted onto them. Partner on holiday? You're on your own, leave the mail until they return. Where on earth are these offices that they based the current 6 loops on? Do they exist at all?

We’ve been told no revision of duties even though it’s needed. Been told DM26 is a change of how you work & a revision will be done in the future!!!
All arse about face as usual, surely get the duties as right as they can be for the new way of working otherwise it’s going to be more failures following on from years of failures.

All of it seems obvious as to what will happen.

If people can actually keep up the heavy and light days then it won’t be too bad to be in an office that can do that.

In my honest opinion the real problems start when it becomes heavy and heavy and I think that will happen in every office wether it takes days , weeks or months it will happen and it’ll be next to impossible to recover under a dm26 model.

Lots of us have seen how these things go more than once.

Brace yourselves for the next 4-5 months , they’ll be very tough.

We go live on Monday. Not clear, not fully staffed. Apparently the area managers boss will take 'full responsibility' when (not if) it's a s**t show. CWU are pathetic, I've absolutely no trust in them anymore. I pointed out to our rep that the agreement states it shouldn't be brought in unless the office is clear and fully staffed and the CWU should refuse to give the go ahead. CWU caved. Pathetic, spineless shambles of a union. Dave Ward and Martin Walsh are a disgrace. All of them are. They're so disassociated from their members it's shameful.

I think we all enjoy being posties, we just hate the way the company is run.

Things don't need to be complicated, things don't need to be disorganised and inefficient, things don't need to be toxic... but for some reason Royal Mail choose for it to be this way and the CWU do absolutely nothing to get things organised and make things harmonious.
