Silently quitting

The pride of the jobs been kicked out of us . The new starts just do what they have been used too 50/50 ( bare minimum) and the longer servers now just want out. Its hard getting any new staff now, imagine this dm26 and later finishes etc ? No chance

They are just right. Minimum wage, minimum effort.

Start on time, take your breaks and finish on time having done what managers want you to prioritise is simply working to your contract rather than working to rule. This isn't the RM from a bygone age with achievable duties and pride in clearing the round with the goodwill of a job and finish. I don't believe that people are silently quitting, they are just disengaging from goodwill. And it will be interesting to see how DM26 will succeed without it.

I'm not due in until another hour today but I know that a few posties will already be in there prepping their frame. The CWU tells them not to come in early and even management have told them not to clock in until their official start time. So the reason why they do is a complete mystery to me.

Seems to be a very popular thing to do in Royal Mail. Then they all complain when their duties get bigger
I don’t know of any other jobs where so many people are happy to work for nothing.

These people have most likely been bullied into it. It's their way of avoiding the arguments.... and it just signals to management that bullying and harassment works.... which doesn't help anyone.

Theres people in ours that dont take any shite from management and they come in early and start before time etc its defo a strange company for this kinda behaviour.

That's not my experience, they are long term employees who have become conditioned over the years and can't adjust to the major changes over the last few years. They moan like hell about the job but are still in early every morning

Funnily enough I've never known a person on the new contracts starting before their time

Good luck ….. I’ve got 4 and a half years till I’m 60 then I’m Going to leave and pick up something part time. Till then im going to plod along and what gets done gets done and what doesn’t,doesn’t. The days of rushing around and caring about finishing everything everyday are long gone . Roll on dm26
