Lucky you, we've still got lapsing although only half as much, these last couple of days though Christmas cards have filled in loads of gaps thus cancelling out low mail volumes, also the obvious parcel explosion l, even with no leave there's not enough parcel relief to go round.postmanplod2025 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2025, 17:49its actually been quite easy this christmas in my office we are clear nearly every day, the mails been so low, that the increase in parcels has had literally no effect, its the easiest time of year as theres no lapsing or workplanning other walks and everyones in, just not sure why the mails so low, quite enjoying it , be shame when its over back to lapsing

When i read these posts on here, and they do turn up every now and then, my inclination is to call bullshit.postmanplod2025 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2025, 17:49its actually been quite easy this christmas in my office we are clear nearly every day, the mails been so low, that the increase in parcels has had literally no effect, its the easiest time of year as theres no lapsing or workplanning other walks and everyones in, just not sure why the mails so low, quite enjoying it , be shame when its over back to lapsing
Now listen to my reasoning and then you can pile on if you want.
Whilst i have no reason to believe this is anything but true, over the years i have been firstly just reading and not participating, then actively joining in on the debate to now where i am on the outside looking in, and everytime and i mean everytime the s**t hits the fan for delivery whatever it may be, there's always at least one or two who are suddenly never having had it so good.
My suspicion is they are either stooges, halfwits or infiltrators from outside RM.
Maybe i am wrong.......

They said the same about Lou until his paradise fell and the shining office on the hill went to s**t too. Modernity will eventually reach these offices in the hidden valleys of The Lost World.qwerty2 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2025, 20:26You're a manager trollingpostmanplod2025 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2025, 17:49its actually been quite easy this christmas in my office we are clear nearly every day, the mails been so low, that the increase in parcels has had literally no effect, its the easiest time of year as theres no lapsing or workplanning other walks and everyones in, just not sure why the mails so low, quite enjoying it , be shame when its over back to lapsing![]()

Re: Anyone else
I read a post on reddit a while ago that follows on from your post quite well. An office had planners in as they were about to do a revision. The planners basically said that the office wasn't failing enough mail. So yeah, the recent years of shitness are by design.

Re: Anyone else
I feel for you all still in this job, really theres better out there especially now the minimum wage is getting closer to what RM is offering.
I moved into a different job completely and its sooo easy and stress free compared to RM and im getting paid more ! i dont have any degree or anything.
Work your time, make it clear thats all you will do from now on.
Actually be active in looking for different work, its not going to fall into your lap !
Good luck guys.

Guys, I did 20 years at royal mail, then took voluntary redundancy money. Now in healthcare so a totally different direction and the change is fantastic. Finish exactly on my time, no more walking in the cold, rainy weather.
Money is the same at the moment, but so much potential for growth, promotion and learning new things.
Get applying for those jobs - there's more to life than being miserable!

Re: Anyone else
We had this until last year, now we must be one of the worst performing offices in the country. Half the staff have gone, half of the new staff don’t last a fortnight, and half the walks fail every day - the other half only fail every other day. Just goes to show, all you need is a Royal Mail planner, they’ll get you under budget. Guess the old adage is true, some folk really do know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. We’ve lost so much knowledge and experience, I don’t think the office will ever clear again.Mr Rush wrote: ↑11 Dec 2025, 19:37They said the same about Lou until his paradise fell and the shining office on the hill went to s**t too. Re: Anyone else
Just ignore the mail building up, as there's nothing you can do about it, although what is now becoming an issue is regular customers stopping you in the street and asking why they are no longer getting daily deliveries. You can hardly lie to them, as if they are at home all day they can see we are only now delivering Tracked items rather than latters and parcels.
I fear letters side of the business will be dead or handed back to the Government to run by this time next year, unless service improves once peak is over. As RM senior management are clearly no longer interested in giving customers an acceptable service.

Re: Anyone else
People still haven't adjusted to the fact it's all about profit these days and not about giving a quality service.
Do you want your posties delivering a letter which produces X profit or do you get them delivering parcels which produce 3 x X profit?
RM have shown for some time which route they are going and I'm shocked that some still surprised by what happens on a daily basis
