Has to be otherwise how can they trumpet live tracking and then be unable to provide it because of operational methods.

Until next year. They were trialling smaller PDAs for walking duties, Blackberries, but that`s been knocked on the head for now. Reason being they `weren`t fit for purpose`, or another reason, too many were being unlocked and sold down the pub.
I dont think it will mate,so far it has cost £70million to set up PDAs for drivers(33,000)also storage problems, you would not be able to set them up in a DO as they would take up to much space.I work in a small office of 30 walks, where would we be able to put them all.

Yeah I totally agree mate, there are so many reasons why it wouldn`t make sense to roll them out to us walkers, but that didn`t stop them trying.

As a driver I would agree to that, in any case they are too heavy for walkholders to carry. Trouble is that logic does not apply to RM. :d'oh!

PDA's good idea?
...................yes..........BUT, at the minute there is a paper trial for all our items. Remember how POL replaced all those troublesome paper reciepts with one Horizon printout, the reason the Union will want terms of reference is for when something goes wrong. If an SD item goes missing who's to blame? Quite right that the Business finally invest in late 20th century technology but would apprecriate less of the Victorian view of Discipline and training.

What's next no rubber Bands!

well for that dozen item you do the same as for one but scan each item one after another and obtain one signature for them all at the end

There is enough space on the PDA's for you all to read Gas & Electric meters whilst you are doing your delivery? :nana
