It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You are right. It does sound daft.

No.
You also don’t get a vote if you’re in the union if you don’t want to use electronic voting ! We’re a POSTAL union , yet the CWU are advocating bypassing the very medium that keeps us in a job

Makes no odds make no mistake pay rise and profits will be driven by job losses…..imagine ur office running on 10% less staff than it does today and see how this miserable pay rise sits

Postman's wages just keep going down.
I don't know if I can vote yes to this 4.2%, that's the headline rate and that's crap.

In the past 3 years minimum wage has gone up about 28.5%
If minimum wage makes the same move again. Then minimum wage will be £15.68ph in 2028.
With our wage collapsing we'll be at £15.64 in 2027.
it means that in this time period both new and legacy contracts will be on minimum wage.
Completely negating part 3's leveling up of new contracts.

I can’t see the point of voting no. There will be no support for strike action given that we achieved nothing with the last crippling round of industrial action, apart from a massive dent in our wallets, so might as well agree and at least get something from this mess. The job will go the way the company wants irregardless so you either move with the times or look for another job at this point.

I predict a 90%+ yes vote.

It's not about a strike, it's about sending them back to the table to say do better.

There have been many refused offers. This isn’t the first.

Do you believe that? Truly? I don't trust the CWU at this point. It's all manipulation to get us to accept this shite pay offer.

Nah, 87% would be more credible
The result is already written, that’s the beauty of an electronic voting system as used by “the Labour Party and some unions” it is coming over the horizon.

This is an easy no vote, this isn't a true pay increase when you allow for inflation, in fact over the next few years any further pay increase may only come when the government increases minimum wage because that's where we're heading.

We all know how tough this job is on our bodies and how much crap we hear from management and having to negotiate daily on how much we're going to be leaving behind. And they want to offer us minimum wage or barely above ?
This is insulting, the race to the bottom has truly now been achieved since regulation opened up the postal services, the service has been cut to shreds and now the pay and conditions for its workers are following.

But at least it's cheaper for the customer, so long as they're happy to wait longer as package mountains acrue on frames and go out after a few days.
