Re: Parcels through the roof, Mondays now very busy
I’ve always thought, since all of this nonsense first appeared, that the end goal is to get rid of as many legacy as possible. It’s working to an extent as some are either leaving or talking about it. I don’t think that they have any intention of equalisation either.

I'm up in the north east, while there are no redundancies on offer, there is a preference exercise going on for full time to part time buy downs. I suppose it shows the company is doing something to reduce staffing & not just hoping people will get fed up & leave.SMS1969 wrote: ↑19 Jul 2025, 14:22I’ve always thought, since all of this nonsense first appeared, that the end goal is to get rid of as many legacy as possible. Whilst it's not the pay off many are hoping for, it is a chance to reduce your hours & pocket some cash.

You are absolutely right.postslippete wrote: ↑19 Jul 2025, 07:01Mickeybrowneyes wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025, 18:43This must be one of the reasons the trials are failing.
Parcels never seem to dip anymore yet managers are told to make summer savings.
Should be resourcing to workload not the temperature.
Work isn't dropping, getting heavier in anything.
September onwards should be interesting.
We are not a trial office but we are already feeling the squeeze as if we were. We are expected to do more with less, and now duties are overstretched, walks are unfinished, and mail’s sitting in frames while management keeps pushing parcels as the only priority. If this is what it is like outside the pilot - what’s coming in September once the reform push steps up is going to be another level.
The system’s already creaking and senior management as usual are doing diddly squat. That means that COMs are resorting to bullying tactics and pressure to try and plug the gaps instead and that's not good. I would even argue that what is happening might even be deliberate - a ploy to drive legacy staff out of the business.
Everyday is busy and all you hear from management is the letters have decreased.
If you have one letter for a block but a 20kg parcel for someone with a pin code, signature and a photo and then next door you have to pick up three 10kg parcels you are not getting the benefit timewise of having little to no mail.
I find most local managers understand, it's above that, the pressure on local managers to performance manage people now is ridiculous.
Divisions and higher than that from the union need to get on top of it quickly.
They are tightening up on overtime rates resorting to scan to pay which isn't the agreement as it stands and taking away indoor pressure hours but the workload hasn't dipped.
Square peg, round holes.
People are at breaking point physically and mentally.
If they aren't making the savings they normally make at summer and the trials aren't working than that isn't the postman's fault and they shouldn't be punished for it.

Its obvious the trials need to be stopped and other sensible plans / ideas talked about. Always the same in our company , and we pick up the pieces.

The trials are effectively over anyway, it all starts going live later this month with DOs starting it in phases. In each MC area it'll be 2 or 3 DOs start it at a time, in each phase. No idea how long RM plan to have between phases.Chelseablue wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025, 15:14Its obvious the trials need to be stopped and other sensible plans / ideas talked about. It has to go to a vote of the union members before it comes in.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025, 19:49The trials are effectively over anyway, it all starts going live later this month with DOs starting it in phases. Don't think RM give a f**k what the union thinks, it's going live this month. The separate trays of 1C and 2C manual letters and flats between MCs and between MCs and DOs is effectively already gone live.claretandblue wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025, 19:57It does according to Martin Walsh.qwerty2 wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025, 19:53No it doesn't!!!!!!!claretandblue wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025, 19:51It has to go to a vote of the union members before it comes in.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025, 19:49The trials are effectively over anyway, it all starts going live later this month with DOs starting it in phases. Just because you are segging stuff, doesn't mean it's coming in, I'm telling you, they were planning on bringing it in until recently, when the union admitted that the trials are a disaster, now it's gone all quiet.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑20 Jul 2025, 20:00Don't think RM give a f**k what the union thinks, it's going live this month.
