Ultimately if it has been released by the DTS the it's due for delivery.
Doesn’t second class currently get released on Friday nights for delivery on Saturday? You say if it’s released by DTD it’s due for delivery but it won’t be due for delivery on Saturday since there is no second class being delivered - so what gives? Surely if you’re saying whatever is released is due for delivery then they will have to change the Friday night run to exclude 2nd class or am I completely missing something?
Sorry again please don’t swear at me - just looking for a explanation for a dummy of the process from someone who knows

Sp can't accept he's wrong.
2c may be delivered to units, but the delivery staff have been told publicly not to deliver 2c on a Saturday.

You just said whatever is released is due for delivery and currently 2nd class gets released on a Friday night for delivery on a Saturday so surely something has to be changed since we aren’t going to be delivering second class on Saturdays?
So either not everything released is due to be delivered like you said or there will be changes to the system so that 2nd class isn’t released on the Friday night surely?
Or do you just mean it’s not due to be delivered but will be sent anyway to sit in the DO for days?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: USO LATER FINISH TIMES
That's going to vary from DO to DO, some COMs will make their staff deliver the 2C, some won't. It might not even be down to the COMs, the RODs could decide to have all DOs in their area deliver all the 2C.
As we get nearer to Xmas many walks will be getting 2 trays of mech on wave 1 and probably somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 a tray on wave 2, that's including all the 2C and DSA released by the DTS. Some days you're going to effectively have 7 maybe 7 and a half trays of mech per walk to deliver on top of whatever manual letters and flats you get. In the end you'll be forced to deliver the 2C due to the backlog building up too much.
The DTS only releases stuff that's due to be delivered, we don't care what DOs do with it, we sequence it and send it out to the DOs. There are no changes to what will be released and when it gets released.

Maybe what you don't know so, is that the IPS frames in delivery offices are being coloured either yellow or blue for 1c and 2c. No one is to touch the 2c stuff on a non 2c day no matter if it comes in or not.

Re: USO LATER FINISH TIMES
Can you be 100% that it'll be the case at every last one of the however many DOs there are? There doesn't seem to be 2 DOs around the country that are run exactly the same.
You'll have to extract the 2C from the mech mail if it's a non 2C day as the 1C and any 2C and DSA that has been released by the DTS will be sequenced together.

Re: USO LATER FINISH TIMES
Our manager told us that the mail sent in will be more smoothed out through the week so we don't get light days and days where there's loads for no reason.
Another one told us 95% of the mail that's sent in will be for delivery that day.
Are the managers liars? Yes. But are they telling lies with the above statements?

Can only speak for our pilot office, but as SP pointed out, every office is different...
All mail that comes in Mon - Fri goes out same day; 2c that comes in on a Saturday doesn't get touched at all - not even sorted up - until Monday. Perstops that contain mixed mail are flicked through on a Saturday to extract the first class, which I have to admit, is annoying and a little time consuming...

In a sane world the DTS would already be doing that. Instead it dams Monday and Tuesday and then the dam breaks in the bottom half of the week. Drought to flood. Drought to flood. Every week.funkflex55 wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025, 13:45Our manager told us that the mail sent in will be more smoothed out through the week so we don't get light days and days where there's loads for no reason.

It's down to which DSA service the DSA companies use and when they drop it off at the MC.Mr Rush wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025, 20:51In a sane world the DTS would already be doing that. I think the main issue is as discussed previously it's not yet setup to receive information from anything else such as parcels and manual mail, that would make a difference.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025, 21:18It's down to which DSA service the DSA companies use and when they drop it off at the MC.Mr Rush wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025, 20:51In a sane world the DTS would already be doing that. Re: USO LATER FINISH TIMES
I'd imagine adding parcel scan data into the DTS algorithm along with maybe data from flat sorting machines must be in the pipeline for implementation eventually. For manual letters and flats (not machine sorted) it would require some way to capture the delivery address and the postage.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025, 06:50I think the main issue is as discussed previously it's not yet setup to receive information from anything else such as parcels and manual mail, that would make a difference.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025, 21:18It's down to which DSA service the DSA companies use and when they drop it off at the MC.Mr Rush wrote: ↑21 Jul 2025, 20:51In a sane world the DTS would already be doing that. Re: USO LATER FINISH TIMES
Based on the current system and going to the new uso, on Monday we'll be getting one box of mech then on Friday it'll all get released like now and there will be 6/7 boxes of it.
The system must know the volumes and averages must be something that can be worked out. Why can't it just release a sixth a day currently so that the work loads are level.
