Royal Mail has a legal duty of care to all its employees, regardless of union membership. This duty stems from general employment law and health and safety regulations, not from union agreements.
Can you read that and understand it ? or you really are 7 years old ?![]()

Good Advice Sean06
"why should it just be the bankers, politicians and the idle rich who get all the best things ? we demand a standard of living for our members that enables them to share in the fine wines and times that the likes of Cameron and his Eton buddies take for granted " - the late great Bob Crow RIP.

Surely if you're spelling it out slowly you would use spaces ?borders wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025, 23:09Did you actually read any of those posts ? Let me spell it out again for you very slowly ............

Royal. Mail. has. a. Legal
(For example). Do you actually read what you write ? You clearly haven't spelt out anything very slowly at all. And why ask if someone is 7 years old ? How would they get a contract of employment at 7 ? Must be the heat ... I'm sweating buckets.

Re: The heat. If I were seven, I’d be flattered—at least I’d have an excuse for missing the point. But alas, I’m older and sweating just as much, which makes the grammar policing even more surreal.Wullie10 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025, 05:25Surely if you're spelling it out slowly you would use spaces ?borders wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025, 23:09Did you actually read any of those posts ? Still, your “slow spelling” tutorial was riveting. I'm taking notes—full stops between each syllable? Revolutionary.
It’s a shame when a legitimate point like the duty of care gets tangled in hyperbole and baiting.
However , i do admire your need to stick up for Ski Sunday , even though my posts were " Trying " to help our colleague Nuit who is Pregnant.

Why do so many threads on here turn into childish bitching? If people are trolling ignore them. So many threads derailed or locked.
Anyway, regarding the heat, no mention of it today by management. You would think at 30c they would allow for smaller workloads but no, the same as always. Maybe they think if they just ignore the heat then it's not a problem.

Re: The heat.
I had breathing issues the other week when it was 32 degrees and had to cut off. They wouldn`t ever sanction an earlier start for the next day when the temperature was likely to be even worse, so I took matters into my owns hands and rang in sick. OK it became my 3rd in 12 months, but I`m not killing myself for this lot who don`t give a toss.nuit wrote: ↑10 Jul 2025, 07:00They should have a duty of care but they do nothing. Just expect you to take it all and do what you can.
It's disgusting and dangerous where it could literally cause a death down the line. They think if you survive the day then it's all fine and you're being a knob. But who knows what hidden damage it's causing.
I'll just have to dynamically risk assess myself. Since the risk assessment is a waste of time. Though I will push to have it ammended but I doubt anything will change.

Surely the individual should be on lighter duties by now?nuit wrote: ↑09 Jul 2025, 06:35What's the deal with being expected to complete a full delivery while third trimester pregnant in a heatwave when it's 28/29 degrees outside and god's only knows how hot inside the van with no Aircon and no breeze?
How are we expected to do this? What should be happening?
Without going sick and being forced onto maternity leave early?
Have the union been involved?
