It's just going to get worse, the ever increasing amounts of parcels and packets will soon take up nearly all our time.. We are getting packets most days now like it was around Xmas, and yet we are still supposed to be able to clear walks, no chance!. I thought Parcel force were meant to be taking more parcels off us?
The company have won allot of contracts recently I believe.
The parcels have been mental levels last couple of weeks.
All you keep hearing from management is more savings are needed because there is no seasonal variations this year.
Just because it is the summer doesn't mean is it automatically light, they should be resourcing to workload not to whether the sun's out or not.
Parcel levels becoming unsustainable, should be putting hours back in.

Totally agree, the ammount of so called 'small' packets is crazy at times, we end up having to do the mail, then waste time driving back round doing the packets as we just can't fit them in the bag, oh and then were driving round doing the oversize and the manager says just get on with it!

A good chunk of what go through the system as small packets are actually technically large letters.

So you resort to name calling then?
Yes it can be done if you know the duties like the back of your hand and customer's hiding places as stated clearly.!!!
You have a long street in an estate from 1 to 99 on one side and 2 to 100 on the other. In that street there are 10 customer drops but a total of 14 parcels then your telling me that would take you over half an hour to go to them 10 drops (14 parcels).
I have covered two duties many times before and have organised the back of the van perfectly so all small packets go into the grey trays in order. That's around 200 tracked in around 4.5 hrs.
Are you going to the cafe for a "sausage" sandwich on your duty and wasting time?

I can see it being possible to deliver 45-50 Covid kits or something postable along a straight road in the space of an hour. Not sure it’s possible to do 45-50 non-postables in an hour, every hour (though appreciate one drop might have 45 or more packets!)

Even if you know Granny Smith at Number 28 likes her packets left in the back shed if not home, unless she receives packets daily in high volumes and knows to check it every day, you’d still need to put a 739 through her door letting her know it’s there.

Same with Mr Shah at Number 37. He is happy for his packets to go in the greenhouse but only if he’s not home. You need to give him at least 30 seconds to answer the door, followed by a 20-second toddle to the shed, then another 30 seconds or so doing the 739.
