Help
Help managers out of a tight spot?majeed wrote:I do overtime to help out. It also helps with the small basic I take home each week. It's a nice feeling to help managers and posties alike out of a tight spot.
What like the tight spot they have to negotiate their Chelsea tractors out of at 12.00(paid for in bonuses for cutting out walks).
Or how about the tight spot as a result of sacking a 20 year postie for having 5 dead letters in his bag.

TBH, I thought the posts where a little close to the bone but nothing more than some of the stuff I've read on here.

OVERTIME/less money more u do?
At the time of the Way Forward vote in 1999 we were told tha the EU would be implementing a maximum 48 hourmajeed wrote:Why did the union agree to the current pay deal, i.e, we get paid less for doing more?
week which would be compulsory for all employers and so RM would have to reduce OT working in stages bringing
it down to a maximum 48 hour week. So it would be irrelevant how much we got paid after the first 10 hours.
We were also told at the time that the CWU's aim was to achieve double time payment for the first 10 hours.
Of course that never happened, and the New Labour Government insisted on a opt out clause for the 48 hour week.
Before that we used to get time and a half for the first 12 hours, and double time for any hours over that, and double
time for Saturdays. We also got Night Duty Allowance, a bit over £2 ph, for any hours worked after 1900 (usually in
Mail Centres).
Also Sunday Duty (OT) was pensionable, which was scrapped by the Way Forward.
