Just sign off the driving app and tell the driver you give the keys to he needs to sign on, which is standard practice?

Re: Trimble
You could do as long as they haven't already taken the van whilst you were doing a loop.
Point is you could never be disciplined for this as it's too open for errors and misuse. (This does not include the accuracy or otherwise of the trimble data).

Re: Trimble
I have personally noticed that the Trimble catches people in a speed transition area, from 30 down to 20 etc. I have also noticed when I've checked against a location I supposedly was speeding in that the area mentioned on trimble is slightly out from the area given on google, tomtom or apple maps. I therefore have to take a guess that the geo fenced area is slightly off. So 23 in a 20 you could still be slowing down before the actual limit sign and the geo fence is inaccurate, but 60 in a 20 is a problem.
Also if the navigation part of the trimble is constantly routing people to a wrong location even with the address and postcode input, telling you 500 metres down a road to turn around etc then how accurate can it be for the supposed area that a speeding event happened?

Re: Trimble
I don't trust the trimble. Never been pulled up for speeding, but I know of someone that has.
The person drives past close to a 20mph area of his route, and every time he drives on the dual carriageway which is a 40 the boss says he's doing 40 in a 20 but keeps on arguing that he doesn't go on to the 20mph estate at all.
The GPS is accurate but never 100% and every week it's the same conversation about speeding which gets really tiring.

If you let someone else drive a Royal Mail vehicle that *you alone* are legally responsible for, and they have an accident.... trust me, you'll be disciplined.

Re: Trimble
Surely you would only be told to ensure you log out of the van check next time someone else is going to drive because if anyone has an accident whilst driving a RM van, the responsibility is all theirs?
RM can’t make you responsible for another person’s driving skills.

No but they can hold you responsible for willful neglect of RM policy and procedure that led to an accident involving the unauthorised driver.Barnacle wrote: ↑12 Dec 2024, 19:33Surely you would only be told to ensure you log out of the van check next time someone else is going to drive because if anyone has an accident whilst driving a RM van, the responsibility is all theirs?

Stretching. They’d have to want rid of you to pull that one.sindba wrote: ↑12 Dec 2024, 19:42No but they can hold you responsible for willful neglect of RM policy and procedure that led to an accident involving the unauthorised driver.Barnacle wrote: ↑12 Dec 2024, 19:33Surely you would only be told to ensure you log out of the van check next time someone else is going to drive because if anyone has an accident whilst driving a RM van, the responsibility is all theirs?

I know it's bollox, but anyway...
Both parties agree that all individuals have a right to privacy at work and it is accepted that there is an obligation on both parties to sustain confidence and trust in relation to all employees, and that they should act in a way to engender that type of relationship. As such driver performance data will remain confidential to the individual and will not be displayed on notice boards or in league tables, nor will it form part of performance management. It is also agreed that this technology is not being deployed for use as a disciplinary tool or a source of information to be used in conduct cases.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Trimble
Thank you for that Postman.
So if a manager is going to town bothering you about some singular aspect of Trimble data, they’re doing it out of boredom because none of it can result in a conduct case
Ours have stopped bothering us about idling now that it’s apparent that much of the idling is sitting in traffic.

i noticed the agreement above was published in august 2015 but it also says it will be reviewed every 6 months?
Has this changed since then as i have seen another from 2021?

Why can't you turn your engine off when sitting in traffic?Barnacle wrote: ↑12 Dec 2024, 20:33Thank you for that Postman.

That wouldn’t be annoying. Not all of our vans do it automatically.TopperGas wrote: ↑12 Dec 2024, 21:44Why can't you turn your engine off when sitting in traffic?Barnacle wrote: ↑12 Dec 2024, 20:33Thank you for that Postman.

Re: Trimble
The same managers that pull you in for idling will no doubt authorise a van retention for someone living 10 miles away from office.

Re: Trimble
Wrong!!!! If your colleague jumps in it and drives off WITHOUT your knowledge, IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT. It's their responsibility. And I'd take it to court to prove it. What you said is like saying if someone steals your car and crashes it it's your fault. Disciplined is such an old-fashioned word. It's laughable. You'd think we were bloody kids!
