I went to a Chiropractor about 8 years ago with issues unrelated to my back but a subsequent x-ray of my spine showed a curvature to right if my spine due to counteraction of carrying bags on my left shoulder for many years. I now always use a trolley.

Virtually every trolley at our place is sat rusting in the yard. They're a pain and doing a duty like mine would be virtually impossible using one given the flats, hills, gates and steps. If the union and Royal Mail want the weight off our shoulders, they need to find a more practicle solution.

There is a pratical solution, *8k bags for flats and such which 'should' of been sorted out in the previous revisions.

Walks must be risk assessed at the planning stage by the planner and H&S rep to determine the most suitable delivery method.

*Can someone confirm whether it's 5/6 or 8kg please I have forgotten.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

It is both.
The 5kg limit was introduced for Victorian tenements
The 8kg limit for other occasions where a trolley is unsuitable.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

If you were to use the trolleys then RM would be forced to take some DPs off of the walks. If you get an injury and you should have been using a trolley then that'll be a blameworthy

Royal Mail does not recognise that using an LWT adds any more time on delivery, in fact they believe that because you can carry more parcels and mail it should actually reduce time on delivery so no RM would not "be forced to take some DPs off of the walks".

Haha true.

Also RM does not recognise that Delivery to Neighbour adds time to delivery.

In their "trials", trying at least 2 neighbours for a parcel takes zero extra time.

If you've only got one bundle and a few small packets then your loop isn't long enough
You never worked a Tuesday? duties and traffic fluctuate through seasons let alone in comparison from beginning to end of week. What’s achievable on a light day has no relevance to a busy day. Would love to see your loops adjusted to accommodate a full bag on your quietest day of the week. Have fun on Wednesday :funneh

Is there a document that confirms this. I spoke to the rep a year back about bag weights. He gave me the old 16kg first bag (or did he say 11kg), 11kg 11kg etc rules of pre van-sharing times.

I'm sure I read on here that the wee man-bag (5kg weight) was for tenements but cant find it anywhere.

It is, what Clash says is correct (he mentions tenements as well) it's on here somewhere but everything is right. (BT2010)
16K and going down per each bag is old school and now defunked and should not be even talked about, unless you're reminissing about the good ole days.

The document posted by POSTMAN in this thread. Point 4.

POSTMAN EDIT: Use this one as the other one gives an error.

Iam not even sure its about weight of mail anymore :hmmmm

I find it more about packets and small parcels bulking out the bags. Some times your lucky to get more than a bundle in the bag for a loop.
