It cannot be used in reverse but to combat this you would need a strong Rep and an a strong office as they will fight it.
Quote the agreement: Variation of hours – Where necessary, for example when traffic volumes are unexpectedly high or resourcing issues arise, individuals may be asked and may themselves request to vary their duty times by up to 30 minutes on a swings and roundabouts basis. Again, individual circumstances will be taken into account and total weekly contractual hours would not change.
Did he ask you or tell you to work OT

Second busiest day ever! Two hours overtime! If I get so much as a raised eyebrow at my overtime claim, thats the last I will do. I never ever finish early, and always go over when required without question, so no swings and roundabouts for me. A light day just means I finish on time. 25 hr contract my arse.
Today I was yet again hauled into the managers office because I could not turn five hours into seven hours magically. I was also conducted because I have yet to crack the space/time continuum and teleport directly to my first letter the moment I walk though the door at 9am.
Typical day really.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one
Heavy today. 90kgs of mail in 8 bags. Delivered 7 and left 1 in the office for the tear-arses to do when they finish early. When walking back saw the tear-arse just finishing it and then he had the cheek to moan about doing it. Didn't say anything to him just thought thats what you get for running around and silently laughed to myself. They never learn.
Busiest day of the week so far. Plenty on, packet bag brimming over. Loads of flats. Mail centre managed to send a load on the missort run, what ARE thy doing down there? Most of the missorts were a bulk mailing, just can't understand why or how they got sent to the wrong offices.
too much and I hate Fridays especially after bank holidays. I wish Royal Mail balance workload much better. I mean I finished at 12.05 on Wednesday and 3.10 today. I would prefer to finish 1.30 both days.

I agree - what a shite day that was - 10 bags full of falling mail volumes with a dozen letters or more for many addresses - at least all the dtd's were done early in the week or it would have been impossible.
I swear that Saturdays are getting heavier....they are even heavier than Mondays and Tuesdays nowadays...don't even get out of our office until at least 8.45am now on a Saturday and was only finished at 12.30
